20w50 Engine Oil instead of 5w30
I'm using Ford Expedition. During the change of engine oil, I used Top 1 20w50 instead of using Motorcraft 5w30. Will the 20w50 not hurt the engine since it is not the grade required for my car? However, it is indicated on the back label of the Top 1 engine oil that it can be used for Ford and other vehicles included in the list.
Thanks.... Lucas |

A brand "Ford" is not a model "Expedition" or an engine type. 20W50 is a heavier oil designed for higher temperatures and higher loads, and will therefore increase drag and friction. You should drain and replace it ASAP.

What year, and what engine? Where do you live? What does your owner's manual say?
We can help more if you furnish this information. |
Put the proper weight oil in it.

Give the guy a break, he is in the Philippines and probably using some sort of Translator.
I would probably change it, I am guessing you have a 5.4 and it might starve the upper end of the motor when running cold. |
Give the thread a break it's 3 years old, if that engine is still running it would be a miracle.
