Default 2015 Engines

Out with the 6.2L and 3.7L, in with a 2.7L EB and a naturally aspirated 3.5L. The 5.0 and 3.5L EB are sticking around, no power numbers to speak of yet.

What does everyone think of Ford's engine line up for 2015? Let the opinions, comments and speculation begin!

Not too shocked personally. I and many others expected the 6.2L to go. Depending on sales maybe in another few years the 5.0's go the same way.

I am surprised by the 3.5L NA. Cost reduction? Turboless version of the 3.5 Eco? Didn't see that coming.

The 2.7LTT has been in the news recently and with the weight reduction could be a great weekend warrior truck.

The real question is what engine with what trim/option level. The 3.5L could be moved up and away from lower trims to further help mileage averages. You never know.

Maybe I am just old school but I don't see how a 2.7LTT is going to be able to efficiently(mpg) move a 5500 lb truck. If I had the money, I would go out a buy one of the few remaining 6.2L F150's. I've always wanted it but wife says no no. Got my eye on a nice white FX4 with the 6.2 too.

Not at all surprised the CAFE-busting 6.2 is gone, but I am wondering if it is gone gone or just gone in everything but the Raptor.

I would imagine the 3.5 EB and 5.0 will be mostly unchanged, maybe a 5-10 hp bump but nothing more than that.

I am most interested in the 2.7l EB. I thought it was going to be a smaller version of the 3.5 with a single turbo but apparently it has a CGI block and some kind of series turbo setup. I will be very interested to see how that tech turns out as I bet that's what the next iteration of the 3.5 will look like.

Yeah, we heard the same thing 3 years ago. Wouldn't worry too much about how high strung that motor is, the block is made from the same material as the 6.7 and I would assume the internals are similarly beefed up.

I'd think that the 2.7 EB will have torque numbers that would make it a practical replacement for the 2011-2014 5.0. Maybe 330ish hp and 375 ftlbs.
I would expect to see at least 450ish ftlbs out of the 3.5 EB so Ford can stay competitive with the GM twins and their 6.2L.
As for the 5.0 I'd hope to see a little bump in power but I'm not expecting anything earth shattering.
Hopefully the naturally aspirated 3.5L will make at least similar power numbers to the exiting 3.7L.

The 3.5 replaces the 3.7. The 2.7L is gonna be one overheated engine block and wear on parts to generate hp/tq, They haven't even solved the first CAC issue and now try to boast torture test, Baja..yeah right, we heard this song and dance before..All I can say to anyone buying this 2.7L is get the longest warranty you can get. I would think the 5.0 would be the best overall choice of engines. 700lb adkins diet and the 5.0..Sounds like to me the best combo for durabillty.

Will there be a next Gen raptor? I like the eb but unless Ford plans to turn up the wick on the 3.5, I can't believe Ford is going to let Chevy enjoy being the most powerful halfton by such a large margin. Yes I know torque is the real story behind the eb and why it performs so well. They need to keep the 6.2 or at least make a N/A 5.8 version of the Shelby motor. This will satisfy the crowd that still wants a sizeable V-8 in there truck. Where does the N/A 3.5 fit in the picture?

Humans have such a short memory, no?

Same as the 5.0 today. It's for people who want an engine in that segment but are scared of turbos.
