I had a tick/knock on my 5.0. Ended up being the timing chain tensioner. Replaced under warranty.

Any news? I am curious because my 5.0 is making an odd ticking noise, not the injectors. It almost sounds like an old roller rocker with bad bearings on one valve...I noticed that when I start the engine in the morning, the engine sounds like it's starving (valve noise) for oil and then it settles and quiets.

that's the noise... 2 dealers looked at mine and said that is normal for the engine.. Has to do with the variable timing of the valves I believe...

Hi Crystal, only 7500 miles...I'm going to speak to my dealer...they are really good at diagnosing new problems. I was the first customer to complain about the intercooler issue, so they know me pretty well

Bcazo, there's just not something right about mine, you can hear a slight miss when the ticking is present, especially on cold start. I'm almost thinking it mat be a loose spark plug.

2012 FX2 5.0L, my truck is making the same noise. I took it in to the dealership where I bought it and they said they fixed it. A couple of weeks later, same noise came back. These are the times I wish I knew about engines and such. It is very uneasy sitting at a traffic light and hearing that "tick,tick,tick,tick,tick". Please update us when you can if it was fixed or not. Thanks!
