Default 2014 5.0 Diesel?

First post after doing my homework on this issue. Sounds like quite a few people with 2011+ 5.0 have issues with ticking or what sounds like to me as a mechanical pulley sound/valve or piston slap issue. I took a youtube of it on my truck. I noticed the noise gets worse as the heat of the day is upon us as well as when it is highly humid outside. It's bad when you roll up at a stop light and you can hear it echoing off the other vehicles. The video was in the morning so it wasn't too warm out. I will get another one when I get home and the truck is fully warmed up.

I only have 400 miles, any opinions or am I just worried about nothing?

I'd take it back to the dealer. That is not a normal sound. My 2011 with 26000 miles never sounded like that and my 2013 does not sound like that with 6200 miles. Both trucks have the 5.0

Uh, yeah. Mine's got almost 15K and it's quiet as a mouse. Take that back to the dealer right the hell away and DON'T let them tell you 'it's a characteristic.'

My 2013 has a light ticking that sounds nothing like that. I think its normal. But your truck is not right take it to the dealer. If they tell you it is you tell them to stick it.

Called Ford reps, just to see if anyone has heard of this problem or reported it. Of course they told me that they haven't heard of anything. I countered with well, there are youtube videos of it including my own and others saying the mustangs do this too when there is an issue. He suggested to take it to the dealer and see what they can do. Going to be fun trying to deal with this. My first Ford and I love the truck but am not going to be too happy if this is status quo.

A trip to the dealer sounds like a good next step, gholmesjr. If you need any help from my neck of the woods, just send a PM my way. I'll need your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.

Second video sounds like open header! LOL. Almost sounds like exhaust leak or pulley issue. Good luck! These type of issues on BRAND NEW vehicles suck! Takes away all the excitement of owning a new vehicle.

Thanks for the replies. I go in next week to have some minor hail damage popped out (two dimples on the hood). They are going to have a listen. I am sure they will give me the run around about it. To me it sounds like it is primarily coming from the passenger side rear. Could be phasers. Could be cylinder issue, could be nothing and just need to have the motor settle in. I baby the thing, so I haven't womped on it or anything. Wondering if I should every so often.
