2013 EcoBoost F-150 vs. 2013 5.0 F-150 - Real world driving impression
#51
My opinion, from being a loud v8 guy(used to have a 2007 5.4 supercharged is that now that I have my ecoboost it still amazes me how fast and strong it is QUIETLY! I've always had exhaust that I could hear the truck getting up to speed. the 2012 Ecoboost I have accelerates hard but does it with little engine noise unlike my 2007. My '12 is faster than my supercharged truck but it drives different with the 6 speed. Once I got used to the way the Eco drives and controlling the boost/ throttle position it drives great. Sorry if what I explained doesn't make much sense.
Bottom line what I mean is that driving the two trucks can throw ya off a little because of the slight difference in power delivery, but the Ecoboost is hands down a better towing rig than a 5.0, just my 2 cents

I am going on record...driven the 5.0, the EB, and could not be happier with the 6.2L.
HP and Torque is plentiful and highway MPG at over 18 is more than I was expecting when I ordered my truck.
In fact, I am so happy with my choice that I no longer give a flying f$&k what everyone else drives!
Now lets talk about interior room compared to the Ram...or let's talk modern features compared to the Chevy...or...

Don't worry, we don't give a flying f$&k about what you drive either so you can stop worrying about it. Besides, the 6.2L doesn't make enough low end pulling power for my liking, but that is just my preference.

My 5.0 truck thinks that ecoboost trucks taste like chicken same as 6.2 Chevys and hemis do!!!!!!! ROTFLMAO
Oh and not to change the subject but I went out and bought me another 5.0 today for the misses to drive!
They are tinting the windows and detailing it right now so we can pick it up tomorrow!

Yep, he smacked the rev limiter spraying it on the street leaving the track on his street tires and popped a head gasket, I don't do that!!
It is all in good fun to me, I have been waiting patiently for one of these highly modded 6 bangers to call me out at the track down here, but alas I guess they are all scared of my lil 5.0 service truck.
I will let it slip that my last outing at the track on both kits was just as quick as Bosses best pass in the 1/8th and mine still has more in it!

I owned my 2012 EB SCREW FX2 for 6 months and 14,000 miles before I traded it in for a 2013 Hemi Charger R/T. I didn't miss the EB turbos at all, I move a hell of a lot faster, and I picked up lots of mpgs. Just can't tow anything or haul much more than a**....
I kept my 2012 EB SCREW FX4 for a year and 16,000 miles, loved the turbos and averaged 16.5mpgs, until we stomped on it to pass on the Kansas HWY only to have it choke and sputter.... Traded it in for a 2013 FX4 SCREW 5.0L two weeks ago, getting $1,700 more as a trade-in than we paid for it. We have 1,200 miles on it, love the V8 sound, find it to be a fun driving experience just like the EB and are averaging 16.5 mpgs just like the EB FX4 we traded in.
While searching for the FX4 EB replacement we tried the ram, the tundra, the 2014 silverado, and hands down the F150 of either EB or 5.0 is the best! My hope is that some day the EB problems will be solved, but for now I am just as happy with the 5.0 and it's history as security over the EB. Agreed with the OP.

Why don't you go up against forum member Turbopete since he is the only EB forum member that running nitrous with a tune, intake, and exhaust just like you? That way it will be more of an apples to apples comparison on the different engines with similar mods instead of just trying to pick races you know you will win because they aren't running a bottle like you are. The only difference between ya'lls trucks is you have a lighter SCAB over his SCREW, but I am sure he wouldn't mind over looking that.
