Google f150 tuning, SSI, MPT, 5 Star...ect rep. tuners who use SCT to flash. I'd never want my 5.4 back over my 5.0!
makes me wonder why they didn't put the same technology into the 5.4 and really have something.

I prefered the drivetrain in my 06 F150 4.6 compared to my 2014 5.0 , i know the 5.0 has more horsepower but the awful shift points, delated throttle combined with the nanny's makes it bad . Only way it compares to my old truck is with nanny fuse 36 pulled and use manual shift mode , then it drives like it should lol. But with that fuse pulled along with turning of the TC and advancetrac at all speeds it will also disable your ABS and cause the traction control and ABS service light to come on ..

My suggestion is to watch your internet mouth lest you want to continue looking stupid. As my dad used to say, "It is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt".

The original numbers you posted were for a 330HP engine, end of story.

260HP at 4500RPM (the truck being discussed) is making 304FT/LBs at that RPM.

The 3 valve makes 315FT/LBS at 5000RPM, not 350FT/LBS.

Numbers don't lie, and if you knew all of the above, which you clearly did not, you would not have foolishly posted the wrong number, and then argued about it
I don't feel the need to call anyone a fool, as you have already laid out the guidelines, and met them.

Default No big deal fellas

It's all good fellas. It's just numbers at the end of the day. Bottom line is that they have all been solid engines, each iteration with its own quirks. While I am not entirely sure why the manufacturer numbers don't add up, isthatahemi and I are engaged in a productive private discussion offline. In the interest of diplomacy I too recant the *** hat line. As to the original discussion, OP drive a tuned 5.0 and you will forget all about that 2v 5.4 I promise you ;-) I have been tuned for almost 20,000 miles now and I wouldn't have it any other way! I will also add that IF i do not supercharge this truck, I will get the 3.5 Eco and tune it in my next truck.....if I can stomach the V6 sound LOL. I jest, it's a bad azz little engine. And I don't care about turbos blowing up longevity tests and blah blah blah. It's called an extended warranty if you are really worried about it. No one likes to part with their money when it comes to repairs, but it is what it is.

The short answer is I don't see how anybody could think the 2v 5.4 has more power, but depending on driving style, yes I can understand some peoples preference for the 3v. I disagree, but I get it.

Sometimes our butt dynos lie to us.

That said, factory shift points def leave something to be desired, but there is a logical explanation. Even in performance vehicles, the factory sets them up to reduce the risk of breaking stuff and to attempt to optimize based on the vehicle's needs. The shifting is usually far from optimal in terms of performance.

The good news is, that can all be changed with a tune. If you don't mind voiding your warranty, it might be worth it to you. If you wanted to tune these as an MT, I would say you might not get a lot out of them, but because they are autos, tuning both the transmission and engine will drastically change your driving experience.

Today's engines utilize variable valve timing. I am not up to knowledge on the 5.4, but I do know that a lot of the newer vehicles are making more power up top than they have before, even as recent as the early 2000s. This can sometimes make them feel just a little weak unless you wind them out.

On a final note, a couple other things that can affect your low end acceleration out of the hole. What gears do you have in your new truck vs your old one? Did you change wheels and tires on your old truck? New one?

The 5.0L builds it's power in the top end. Get it a over 2.5k rpm and it will start to come alive. Don't be afraid to get into the higher rpm's, this motor loves them.
