As far as the whole $1000 more for the 5.0 is concerned that pretty much only applies to the online ordering process. At a dealership it's all about what incentives they're offering on certain models, and How well you haggle w the salesman. When I got my truck there was $6000 dollars in incentives for reg cab STX 4x4 w the 3.7L but not for the STX w the 5.0

I love my 3.7L bone stock. Haven't even considered any performance mods. The dealership I used offered me $10,000 off of sticker too. The motor is great in my opinion.

Default 12 3.7 XL 2wd

I got $2800 in rebates that weren't available on the 5.0. I have the 3.73 LS and tow a 3500lb boat in-town with ease. Can't vouch for distance trips. Plan on adding Flowmaster dual exhaust(single in, dual out), superchips programmer and possibly an intake depending on whats available in the next 6-8 months. Airaid makes an intake, but I've never purchased any of their products before and am skeptical. Roush makes one as well, but it's pricey($309.)

a new F150 with a 3.7 is a lot more truck than you could get just a few years ago.. Hope you love the new ride
This is exactly how I feel. I love my 3.7. I don't have anything to tow and only small loads of hauling, so the 5.0 was not necessary for me. I prefer the better mpg's of the 3.7 to the extra HP and torque of the 5.0. I would never use that extra power.

I also love how I could get the painted bumpers with the black cloth seats combo on the XLT with the 3.7

Default Very happy with the 3.7

When l first went looking at the 2012 F-150's, l first priced out the 5.0's in the XLT package, which had the rest of the equipment that l wanted. I read numerous reviews and road tests, and read what owners that already had them had to say. I knew what l wanted my truck to do, and after all that l decided on the 3.7 V6 and l dont regret that decision for a second.
The 302 Hp and 278 lb ft of torque is more than enough for me and how l will use my truck. Sure who wouldnt want all the horsepower that you can cram into it, but the additional $1,000 for the 5.0 over the 3.7 would have cost me several thousand more than that in the final price. I had the dealer work it out for me.
The 3.7 is a great little motor. l do think that all of us that are into our vehilces, have that thing in us that wants us to tinker, no matter what engine we have.

I have only owned 4 vehicles and this being my second new vehicle, I can say that my truck is the first vehicle I had that I'm proud enough to want to tinker with it and its sweet enough that I don't feel like I'm putting spinner hub caps on a dodge neon lol

ok, here is a cheap way to get a cold air intake and it will cost you a lot less then a aftermarket set up...
I did this to my 3.7 and not only can you hear the difference but you could also feel the same difference you will feel when you get a aftermarket set up...
first:
notice how the intake box has a tube that goes inside the fender? ok, now you will need to remove the 13mm bolts that attach the air box to fenders, you pull up on the box and Im sure as you guys can tell, it holds the coolant bottle aswell.. ok, well the tube that goes in through the fender, is removable. well when you remove that tube, its a bigger hole in the air box. I folded the heat shield (rubber mat) back so that it blocks off heat from the radiator so the "breathing hole" is still sucking in cold air from the fender area. I dropped in a square K&N filter and wala! cold air intake for the fraction of the cost. AND it wont void your warranty one bit. the intake is stock! I have also made the side where the adapting tube was located bigger aswell, no CK engine light or any concerns.
Just my 2 cents... it works and its alot less expensive then any kit out there, also retaining a plastic tube is alot better then a metal tube that can heat up the intake air. and better then a open/cone filter sucking in all that hot air.. just sayin'

oh and btw, I bet the 5.0 and Ecoboost aplications have a similar set up and the air box "silencer" or whatever that tube does, is removable and similar gains can be done to them too

I love this thread!!! Pretty much what I got off this thread is that the Roush Air Intake is the best Intake there is out there currently to get installed. At least compared to the the Airaid that I was looking at getting.

I have two questions:

The first question is I keep on hearing about the "Tuner". Is there a tuner in particular that you all have used that you all recommend. What all have you all used your tuner for?

My second question is I heard one person talk about the flowmaster dual exhaust. I have been trying to research an exhaust that has dual in and dual out that will fit the 3.7. Does anyone know if that will work?
