I didn't read the article, but I think it is possibly out dated. Roadrunner is the tag name by Ford for the Boss 302 special edition Mustangs. I can't see them investing that much into a special edition Mustangs to then take that motors name and change it for use in something else. Also, the GT500 is slated to get a bored version of the current 5.4 4v, so I don't think it will be used there either.

Roadrunner was the code name for the Boss 302 engine. I think Ford Austrailia has a 5.0 with a supercharger in the Falcons. Doesnt really make the sick horsepower you would think.

Roadrunner still is the code name for Boss 302. The Aussie version has forged lower compression Mahle pistons, and better con rods. Although of is rated at 335 kw (about 450 hp), chassis dyno testing has resulted in 320-335 kw to the wheels. So, in reality it is making about 450 rwhp, or 500-525 bhp. Not overly impressive, until you consider that this is at a conservative 5 psi or so.

Doesn't this supercede all those old ideas?
"The larger 5.8-liter aluminum V8 now spits out a full 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque courtesy of a larger supercharger. Ford calls the 2013 Shelby GT500 the most powerful production V8... in the world."

Koenigsegg has the most powerful V8.
The Geneva Motor Show is shaping up to be one hell of a car show. And now adding to the already impressive list of debuts is Koenigsegg’s Agera R, featuring a 5.0L twin-turbo V8 that puts out an astonishing 1,115-hp with 885 ft-lbs of torque. That’s four digits fellas, but there is a catch – that’s on E85. Assuming that if you could afford the Agera R, buying E85 by the gallon won’t be an issue, but if you’re in a bind and stuck with 95 octane, the Agera R still pushes out 940-hp with 811 ft-lbs of torque.
Its not even the most powerful American car....

Eventually, the SSC Aero was born in 2006. Equipped with a Chevrolet small block engine, together with a supercharger that generates up to 8 psi of boost, it is known to produce 1062 horsepower.

And they used a log manifold. There would definitely be some gains to be had with a tuned-length header on that engine. Pretty slick little engine. There were some ...'s after the quote of most powerful V8 engine, must've been something along the lines of "most powerful mass-production engine," or something of the like.

Ah, "mass-production" Cuz both the koenigsegg and SSC are production cars, just not the level of the mustang. It is more powerful than the Camaro and Corvette, which is probably what they were going for.
Now only if they can make it go around corners...
I'd be stoked to see a tuned 5.0 come from Ford. But I have a couple years before I need to look at new trucks anyways...
