Think about it this way....The 6.2 2011+ Super Duty seems slow, seems underpowered, looks funny, etc. I somewhat agree, however, most of that is because the vast majority of those new trucks have the 6.7 Power Stroke, with that big round emblem on the door....I can count on two hands at most how many non diesel 2011+ SD trucks I have seen, and have a couple fingers to spare.

With that said, not too long ago Ford built, for the most part, the exact same truck...with a 5.4...with a V10...the 6.2 will run circles around both of those engines.

There's always something better, hell, I have a 5.0 XLT...I wish I had a 6.2 XLT, or, even better, a Raptor....maybe some day, maybe not. Drive what suits your needs, and be happy with it

The 6.2 is a stout engine. My brother in law absolutely abuses his f250 screw with 6.2. He could have any truck he wants and that's his choice. He has had diesels and just wants the simplicity of a gasser. By abuse, I mean ridiculous abuse. Wot everywhere he goes. Overloaded lots. His truck bed is denting from a crane ball because he had one loaded in there and it dropped a bit. Lol.

That engine is stout and will handle your needs better than the 5.0 in an f150.

Thanks for all the feed back guys. I just needed to know if the 6.2 was a strong contender. I asked my trusted mechanic of many years and he didn't seem to have an opinion on that engine one way or the other. I think he just hasn't seen them at all so he had no helpful comments. He didn't seem to think much of my choice in trucks either. Which seemed odd. But I've plowed for years with my monster 1991 F150 super cab 8' bed with a cap on it. How much worse can this thing be with no cap on it? I don't need the most torque you can buy but I do want something that I can hang any plow I want on and I think this is the truck? They don't have to have the plow package on them to be able to plow do they? I would think any F350 would already have all the heavy duty equipment on them to do whatever task you asked of it? I really want a 8' bed and you simply can't get that anymore in anything but the King Ranch if you want a crew cab? This truck has the tailgate step in it also, I'm finding it harder and harder to get in and out of the bed of the 2012 F150, since it is so high off the ground. Maybe you can in the F250 "work" truck. But I'd like a bit more comfort in my later years. And yes I know it ain't going to ride like my F150 does. But I think I can tolerate it. Hell the F150 rides like my Caddy did I had years ago. I need room for my son since he always travels with us. He is getting older now and doesn't deserve to be squeezed into the back seat of a super cab. This to me seems like the path to go down? Just looking for opinions here.

Thanks,

Bill

Not sure if this will work on a 2011, but you can try putting the vin number at the end of this string and then copying/pasting the whole string into the address bar on your browser.

Bill, to answer your question, the 6.2 will be a good choice for you, I have one in my F150 & it has been flawless for 12,000 miles. I researched this engine thoroughly before I ordered one & came up with no reason at all why I shouldn't. Other than mileage, it's a good, solid, strong engine that will give you no problems or worries. Just look through the this forum as well as others, I know they are a rare engine compared bro the others on here but you will find no problems with the 6.2. Good luck on your decision.

If you really want to get some opinions of the 6.2 being worked in a superduty, check out the rv.net tow vehicle forums. I've seen plenty of folks with the gasser in their superduty pulling heavy campers with no complaints. Here's one thread discussing it:

For what it's work, I have 75k on my 6.2 and I love it.
