My 2011 with 41k makes this noise as well. I hear it mostly when I'm at a drive thru window. Haven't had any problems but it is using a little oil and has done this since new. I just check it every now and then and will add oil when it gets close to the bottom indicator hole.

Have the same noise on my 60,000 mile 2011 5.0. The dealership said it was normal but it's annoying. All oil changes have been at the same dealership. So they can't say I didn't maintain it.

my 2012 with 65k miles also makes this noise, although I hear it most from the drivers side fender well. I can't hear it inside the truck, but can hear it at a drive through or ATM machine. I have been hoping its a slight exhaust leak cause mine kinda sounds like a chug rather than a knock. Truck is still extreeeemly smooth and runs great. I bought it used just outside the warranty period so I'm stuck with it I spose, hope it don't go boom anytime soon.

I have a 12 and mine use to make that sound. Recently mine seems to have gone away. I use to hear it when it was warmed up with the window down and when I was at a drive thru window. Only changes that I have done was to switch to full synthetic Motorcraft oil and I had my transmission fluid topped off, because it was low from the factory. They had to add just over a half a quart to get it to the top of the full markings to where it should be.

My 2013 5.0 had almost the same knock and I fought the dealer and Ford long enough they sent a engineer out to look at my truck and I met him their. I duplicated the problem and wouldnt take no for an answer. My new Long Block is getting installed as we speak. Keep up the good fight!

Let us know how the installation goes, rvtrc211v. I'll keep an eye on this thread in case you need help from my neck of the woods.

I have been thinking for some time about purchasing an ESP after the free one given to me by Ford Corporate is up. But I feel I'm wasting my time, and money on Ford. Ford views my truck as normal, and will not even look at my truck any further. My truck is still under the original factory warranty, and this is completely unacceptable. So no matter how many, or how much of a warranty I have. Ford is not going to diagnose the engine knock in my truck. I shouldn't have to fight to have my truck serviced under warranty. So I dumped the truck, and am saying goodbye to Ford Motor Co. Unfortunately I've seen Ford treat many customers this way.

I've decided to give Toyota's 2014 Tundra a try. I'm very pleased with my decision, and really enjoying the new truck. I've learned alot from others on this site, and want to say thank you to those who have helped me. Here is my new ride.
