Default 2011 F-150 5.0 driveshaft issues

Does anyone know of the balance issue, I've heard that taking the truck up over 135-140mph the driveshaft can blow out of the tail. Curious cause I was going to test mine out at the Texas mile in the spring

Never heard of that issue. Let us know how it goes though.

From the title of the thread, I Half expected this to be a rant about how the driveshaft of your truck was screwed up, and it was the engine's fault.

You know, like " My blinker on my Eco don't work right, I should have bought the 6.2."

Too many of those threads on here.

Replace the speedometer -

Unless you've got a ROUSCH Supercharger you don't have to worry about going those speeds.

If you do indeed have a 600 hp truck I would recommend a custom drivestaft.

Ford made a special MMX driveshaft for their Crown Victorias, because at High Speed with 3.55 gears the drive shafts could fail, so they governed the 3.27 gears to 129 mph, and the 3.55 cars to 119.

Not to come off as a jerk, but was there any "real" thought to the question you asked?

Yeah I've got the Roush phase 2 with a custom tune. I've taken her over 150+ twice and not had a problem, but I was told that it could happen which has made me cautious and has me inquiring about it more and possible solutions before the spring, cause like I said I'd like to see what she has at the Texas mile with a smaller pulley . Any suggestions for a custom shaft?

Dont know of any aftermarket custom driveshaft manufactures but im sure if you search the net you will find a few. The main reason i responded was to recomend you use a driveshaft loop for saftey. Good luck! Please post back after you run the mile.

If you go to the Crown Vic forum, crownvic.net I think, there are several threads with vendors listed for the custom shafts - keep the shiny side up on that rocket !

I hadn't heard of that. I've had mine to 137mph N/A. I didn't feel any vibration at any speed. Your top speed is going to be crazy for a truck and like suggested if I were you I'd get a hoop as suggested. The only issue I know of with the drive-shaft is slope on the splines, maybe that's what you're talking about?

I believe every driveshaft has a "critical speed". Meaning they are designed for certain parameters. I am no expert on it but do remember hearing it on the Mustang forums.
