2011 Engine question?

looking to buy a 2011 ford f150 supercrew xlt 4x4.. got so caught up in the niceness of the truck last night that i didnt catch what kind of engine it had in it.. are the 2011 truck engines for this model good ones? i think he said it was ecoboost v8 but im not exactly sure.. we sorda ran up to the dealer last minute..

any input?

The EcoBoost is a V6. It's a sweet engine. Do you remember a badge on the side of the truck. You could also check the inventory online. The sticker would have had a $750 charge for it. If your state has front plates the holder is off to the side instead of centered.

dang i just checked the inventory list and its a v8 so i guess its the 5.0? is that a good engine compared to the eco boost??

That's a big debate:eek:

V8 guys vs. new tech.

V6 should have better mileage for most driving but they will be equal pulling a load. EcoBoost has better torque and HP and cost more.

Until you drive off the lot it's not too late to change your mind.

Check-out the torture test video's on Ford site. The EcoBoost doing a full throttle race against the Ram and GMC V8s pulling a 9000# trailer up a 6% grade is amazing. Plus the EcoBoost had a 160,000 miles on it.

the eco boost the guy said would run me about 2,000 more and i need to make a decision today.. ill be driving highway alot.. offroad alot and ill be lifting the truck.. what do you think?

I was looking at the V8s until I watched the video's then I test drove them both. I have an EcoBoost. I did get the Ford 7yr 100,000 mile transferable warranty too. I got the FX4 and it was a $750 charge so they must be charging more on the XLT.

It might be $2000 over base 3.7L V6, it is only $750 over the 5.0L V8 price.

which one would be faster? acceleration... long haul etc

Ford didn't race there own engine. But the EB v6 has a better torque curve producing a lot more torque at lower RPMs and a higher hp rating. In the same truck the EB should be faster.

I know when I punch it going 70 I get a huge smile as I quickly get to 90 plus and then the wife starts yelling at me.

The 5.0 will do the same at 70 as it's in the torque range. At least your wife yells at you, mine grabs the door handle and gives me dirty looks like she just **** her pants.
