2011 Ecoboost Timing Chain - Cam Phasers - Rattle at Startup
#31
I understand the frustration but don't understand the thinking that Ram will make everything all better. Like Ram doesn't have a long list of unhappy customers?
Anyway, it sucks that it happened. When you bought the truck did they give paperwork that detailed what you were required to do for them to honor the warranty? If they did and what they are telling you matches the documentation you're out of luck, if you received nothing it seems like it may be worth putting up a fight.

I feel your pain. I've had quite a few issues with my 2012 Eco Screw. I've been having the timing chain/phaser rattle for about 6 months now. When I took it to the dealer they claimed they couldn't hear it and wouldn't do anything about it. However, I hear it almost every morning on startup. My warranty is about to expire, not sure what to do and not happy with my Ford purchase.

Mine made the noise for the first time last week. I called woodysmith ford and got it right in. I let it sit over night at the dealer, when the mechanic started it the next day it made the noise. They called me and said it was all covered under the warranty. Good thing too, I only have a few months left on my warranty.
As for rammf150. You have fun with your dodge. I have owned 4 rams, I will never own another. All of them had to have the entire front end redone every 80k miles. 2 of them ate their trans in 75k. The last one was an 2006 cummins and within 120k miles I replaced the motor once and the injectors 3 times, also it's one of them that ate their trans. The truck was also bone stock. Have fun with that!

Back in the old days timing chains and gears wore out as soon as 70,000 miles. I replaced many. Now at 120,000 miles, you call it a defect??????
This is what you get for relying on a "Mickey Mouse Hong Kong aftermarket warranty".
Pay the bill and move on.

Its chicken s**t, pure and simple. i dont give a crap about $2100, $4000 - the fact they said i didnt follow the rules, basically saying i was negligent by following what the manual specified to a T. Google timing chain F150, goes back 15 years.

I switched to FORD from Dodge because of their ****ty transmissions.
I have owned a lot of vehicles in my life and Dodge is by far the worst I ever owned.
Every brand has their own set of issues.

Just got my F150 back from the dealership today due to the timing chain. They were great to work with. I didn't have to fight with them at all. Best part was that it was still under warranty so I didnt have to spend a dime.
Funny thing is that truck sounds and drives completely different. I bought the truck new and the motor always chattered a little when it was idling. I figured it was the valves. Now there is no chattering noise and the throttle seems to be a lot more responsive.

2011 just started rattling
How long is the emission warranty this TSB is covered under? I have a 2011 with 47500 miles and mine just started to rattle the other day. Took it to the dealer and got the deer in headlights look. They called me back later and told me the warranty is only 5 years or 50000 miles... Can anyone confirm this? I don't want to come out of pocket $2600 that they quoted me. I'm had all service done through Ford and I also needed to have the transmission rebuilt at 19500 due to a fault pump... Must have been a Friday build..
