To me, what's weird is that Ford Corporate doesn't allow a dealer to make their own diagnosis anymore.

What's even weirder is that they are just flat out not fixing these trucks. The Ecoboost is their baby and they just don't seem to care guys are having issues.

I've noticed if the truck is driven a lot the evening prior to parking it will make the noise almost guaranteed. If the truck isn't moved or started after making the noise sometimes it won't do it the next day... Not sure if that means anything.

I'm thinking its an oil pressure problem of some kind causing timing tensioner to be slow doing its job for the fist second after that its fine. Like huntnrig said it only does it when left to sit for a minimum of aprox 12hrs all the way to three days. Very weird. This is all after all was replaced to do with the chain. Initially it was every morning after 12 hours of rest. But in the end after having truck in shop for over two months total this year I've been told the same pretty much. I was told ford Canada knows about the problem and they are working hard to have this resolved and as soon as there is a fix we will fix it but until then drive it and it will be fine.
Pretty crappy for sure. Hard to feel the reliability in this truck now knowing its making a sound like this everyday almost and I just gotta get used to it? Well I'm doing just that now and just trying to love it while it lasts so last night I said @#%! it I'm putting on the stuff I bought for it just before the noise became a scare. On went a new Rx catch can and Wagner CAC. Now eliminating oil gas injection problem originating from Ford's terrible pcv design for this motor. Second the Wagner CAC to pretty much throw out the old one that is caked in oil and gas and now not only its new and clean,it looks good and most importantly will never fail me pulling or climbing b.c highways ect and also its eliminating the originals complaints and problems of making water and it supposedly working too good lol. Anyway sorry to ramble but ford is not in my good books right now to say the least! Anyway good luck to all and I'll keep you updated on my truck when and if they ever find a solution.

Finally. I'm excited to see how long it takes to fill this catch can in Canada.

I was going to order the Amsoil oil precharger to try. They pressurize the oil system before starting the truck. Unfortunately they discontinued them due to low sales.

I had 45k on my truck when my coils started failing. I had 3 replaced the first time. Two months later had to replace another. When truck started misfiring this time I just bought another set of plugs and also replaced the last 2 coils. Now I have replaced plugs twice and one full set of coils and truck has 58k.

...that's absurd. The coils and plugs should last a lot longer than that. I'll be dropping my truck off this evening after work so they can finally look at it tomorrow morning. I have a feeling this will be the start of a circus show for me. I'll keep everybody updated.

What's the model year and current odometer reading of your truck, albertafordf150? I can use this information to advise you of the best next steps.

Curious as to what you might be able to do for us Brittany as nobody else is being of any real help. You'd think this would be an simple teardown and find the problem but it is almost as if were asking them to find the problem on the spaceshuttle ? How many engineers and mechanics and time does it take?? Not too much to this I'm sure. Kinda as if they know something we don't and they are trying to find a way to smooth this out with people instead of standing behind their problem and making it right! I get bugged daily about this truck because of its unreliability and being in the shop so much with no answer. Cmon ford get it together before the other manufactures steel your spot as the top truck.

If it's the oil pressure , then why hasnt it done it from day one.?
