2011 ecoboost noise on start up

Actually, a few months before the CEL comes on, the remote start will stop working reliably. The computer must have some programming whereas if it is seeing a fault, the remote start won't work.

Just thinking out loud here so bear with me...
On my SHO it will randomly make a tapping noise/racket on starts. Doesn't matter hot or cold, new oil or old oil. Sometime it's loud and ther times it's not. Not the dragging sound but more of a lifter tpye sound. Been doing it since, well, forever - lasts less than 1/2 second. At 80k no issues at all. It's a complaint on the SHO boards but AFAIK no issues. The theory is it was/is the HPFP (the one on the F150 is different).
The sounds you guys are posting sound like a chain rattle. But once pressure builds it stops. So that makes me think maybe something in the oil pressure system is bleeding down as I think oil pressure is what keeps the tensioner tight. When the engine is off, what keeps that pressure? My guess would be a check valve somewhere in the oil system. Maybe that is leaking on some?
Another thing that got me thinking is the oil filters. Ford's are made by Purolator which is having issues with tearing. See Bob Is The Oil Guy for this. There have also been reports of Motorcraft failures. I know many Fords (and others) can be rattle traps on startup with an improper oil filter. Maybe it is the oil filter?
It is weird to me that some get the tensioner/chain replaced and are fine, some it never works for, and some it works for a whie and then stops. To me that makes me think it's not the chain/tensioner but something else in the system.
Either way it needs to be found out about and fixed.

If you drove my truck then drove a good running Ecoboost you'll notice three things.
1. The sound, tone and vibrations from this motor are very different.
2. The Turbo makes a strange noise and barks into the exhaust.
3. The engine has flat spots/misses on WOT and lacks the same snap.
Only reason I can say that confidence is because I put 40,000km on my last 2011 F-150 Ecoboost and it was a damn good truck.
It's my belief my motor has something internally wrong with it. With a 5 year warranty I'm going to be riding this one out but it's still very frustrating, inconvenient and a major buzz kill whenever I drive the truck.

I agree with some of you, thinking the chain rattle is the symptom and not the problem. However if the problem isn't fixed then the chain and tensioners become worn and that's why they look like the problem. Replace them and the symptom goes away for awhile, but eventually returns.
Leaving the chain and tensioner sit for days should change nothing. Leaving the engine sit while slowing leaking oil pressure, makes more sense.

Decided to give it a shot with the hood open again this morning as the last two days it was quiet with it open, it must of been camera shy the first two times because it did it today.
So my question to you all, does this sound like the timing chain or vacuum pump?
