I explained it was probably the only way to go and the service advisor agreed so we wait to hear back I guess.
If Ford won't cover it, maybe they will do it while they are in there if you pay for the parts? IIRC the tensioner is only about $50 and would be a good piece of mind going forward.

Although I would hope that ford would cover it, especially if it's that cheap, I agree about buying the part. Question is though, if it's that cheap and could possibly help avoid further warranty work, why wouldn't they just do it?

They refused to replace my tensioner even when I offered to buy the parts. Now a year later and we have to do it again.

From a business standpoint, that makes zero sense. They could make a few bucks, and possibly prevent Further issues. You still under warranty?

Brutal... My truck still has about a year and bit or 36,000km or so of factory powertrain warranty. I bought a Ford ESP for 5yr/75k miles so the truck is covered until 2019 or I reach 184,000km.

Future repairs are going to be on Fords dime.

I think its some kind of issue with the block, several people have had the tensioners and chains replaced and it is still doing it.

What type of "problem with the block" are you thinking? I am guessing it's probably a bad design with the tensioner?

Hmmm.... If they replace my chain and tensioners and the noise is still there they are going to continue replacing parts until the noise stops or I have a new motor.

There is no other option for them... I'm covered top-to-bottom with their own warranty.

You may be correct,it may be a poor tensioner design. The only reason i say that is some people have had to have their block swapped cause of crank wear that was causing the chain to rattle.Several have had the tensioner changed and still have the problem. All is just speculation at this point.

I am paying attention here as my lincoln mkt has started making a similar noise on start up. It's an 11 with 3.5 ecoboost.
