2011 ecoboost noise on start up

I run full synthetic and change every 3k. I would recommend doing something similar. Mine has rattled for over a year and about 40k miles. May not run perfect, but far from a catastrophic failure. I might get it done next spring not sure. At least that will give others some time to run with the repair and see if it actually sticks. There's no parts anyways I would assume there won't be widespread availability for 2-3 months if its anything like the intercooler ordeal

It used to every time it sat for 12+ hours, except for in Winter. Didn't rattle the whole Winter last year. I have done a couple things that people don't necessarily agree with that have limited the rattle on start up recently. Replacing the passenger side VCT solenoids, and doing 3,000 mile oil changes with Lucas oil Stabilizer has reduced how often it rattles. Went from every time it sat 12+ hours, to maybe doing it once every 10 starts it sits for 12+ hours. Some people don't like the Lucas product though, and doing full synthetic 3,000 mile oil changes is hard for some people to swallow.
Still looking at replacing drivers side VCT solenoids to see if that will help even more.
Although the rattling has been lessened, truck still goes up and down in performance. But before I started doing all this stuff it was just always down

I have been trying for almost two weeks to get the noise on video... I got it once. only heard it so slightly lately but not enough to hear on video. I'm 4000 miles into my 5K OIC. Hmmm. Thinking this might be a spring thing for me too. Hunting season is coming and I can't be without my truck for weeks at a time for the change.

I had a 2012 Ecoboost with 43k miles. Mine made the same noise that was in the initial video. I ignored it for quite some time. It got worse and then escalated. Eventually Ford replaced the motor under warranty for a broken piston skirt. I left the Ecoboost at the dealership and traded it in for a new 5.0.
