Got my truck back from the shop and so far so good. It seem to run smoother now. I had a bit of a miss for some time. I replaced the plugs and all that but it only helped a little. Now I have a nice smooth idle and the hesitation on acceleration is only slight now compared to before. No more noise at start up now either. Hopefully that will be the case as long as I have the truck.

Whatever you do, you should quit going to that dealership and find another one. If you live in the DFW area you've got plenty of options for better dealerships. Being in that area also gives you plenty of options for reputable shops. There are even some tuners based out of that area. You could try contacting a couple performance shops, run your issues by them, and ask for their advice. I'd bet one of them could give you some insight or steer you in the right direction. I'd personally start by contacting any local tuners to see if any of them were familiar with the ecoboost timing chain slap.

I hope someone else corroborates this -- but I highly doubt you casually had a screw bust loose and fly into a turbine fin. That would basically be like flying a prop plane and hitting a bird, lol. I hope users don't light me up for saying that, lol
Thanks alot for your input. I asked around and ended up taking my truck to a GMC dealership who has a very good service team and is knowledgeable with Ford due to handling their pre-owned Ford inventory and other reasons. I also printed a cooy of the TSB 16-0027, all of my records at the Ford dealership and quite a few pertinent pages from this forum for reference to my issues and handed that to them. We shall see what comes of this attempt to get my truck diagnosed and repaired properly. Of course, the last 3 days for some reason the engine shudder/rattle on cold startup has not been happening- but has been the past 50k miles....and I told the intake guy that. I tried to video it in the few days before taking it in, just in case they say they coudnt replicate it (like the Ford dealer), but of course it mysteriously wasnt doing it....

Thanks again to everyone who has given advice. Will let the forum know how this ends up.

Well I had my own thread but posting here.

2011 Eco just had the 16-0027-A TSB done.
Getting close to 69k. Covered under Premium Ford ESP.

Not sure if the -A is significant but looks the same as the TSB I wanted.

No fuss from dealer took in had video on phone didn't need it got truck back little over a week total.

Dropped my truck off today at my local dealership for the cold-start rattle and constant ticking. Service rep told me they were going to start working on a couple smaller items today, and then wait until tomorrow morning to check the start-up rattle. I am aware of the most current TSB, but I havent brought that up just yet. Hoping they either hear it or take my word for it, otherwise we will be having a conversation. I have an ESP through March 2019, so i'm hoping to get this taken care of before then.

Wanted to provide an update:
3/12/2018-Dropped my truck off at the local dealership. Stated that I was hearing the knocking on cold starts and a constant ticking. Adviser stated they would probably wait until morning of 3/13 to start the truck and determine if the sound was there.
3/13/2018-Adviser called and stated that they verified the noise, and upon inspection determined the timing chain was worn, as well as the main cam bearings. Their suggestion was to either also replace the heads or the entire long block. Adviser was then waiting to hear back from Ford Premium Care. Adviser called me back later in the afternoon and stated that Ford was requesting receipts for oil changes. I stated that I did not believe I had any since my dad and I do my oil changes. Adviser stated that he would see what Ford had to say. I proceeded to go home and look through my folders and found my receipts. Receipts had the date, the mileage of my truck, and the oil and filters I purchased and paid for. I called and left the adviser a voicemail asking what he wanted me to do.
3/14/2018- Adviser out sick. No contact.
3/15/2018-Adviser called me back and said that Ford had denied the claim with the lack of receipts. He stated that I should send him what I had and he would forward it on. I proceeded to scan my receipts and they were then forwarded on to Ford Premium Care.

Service adviser at the dealership claimed that when they inspected the main bearings, they were scorn pretty bad and therefore the recommended replacing the heads or long block. As I am unfamiliar with the exact layout of the engine and what they are seeing, I have to take their word. Unfortunately, them trying to go that route seems like it may screw me over on the original timing chain issue.

I gave up on my 2011. After losing count of how many times I had it in the shop, I traded it in for a GMC Sierra 1500 and won’t ever buy a Ford again. Good luck all!

Good luck. My gm products nickel and dimed me. Last one was the wifes 2010 equinox. Pistons, timing chains and a few other components changed under a tsb last year for excessive oil consumption. Transmission blew a couple months ago. We were out 3k for a reman. Traded it off the day we got it back. It had 89k on it.
