Yes. My dealer actually asked if my truck was acting sluggish off the line. It's a very common issue with trucks that have the rattle.

Need advice!
Just got tsb 16-0027 done. Rattled and chattering 14 hrs later on a cold start!!!Nothing about phasers on paperwork? Have a 2013 eco boost and this will be the 4 th time I take it in! Really tired of this?

The rattle is the cam phasers. When they start to rattle, they then stretch the timing chain. So, you will need cam phasers and chains replaced. This 3.5 ecoboost is such a nightmare. Sadly, the replacement parts will fail again at some point because Ford has not been able to figure it out. The 2017 (second generation 3.5 ecoboost) has these same design flaws... seeing several rattling engines and many with the dreaded intercooler condensate buildup (engine misfire).

Hi new member here.

Found this forum while looking for info online about this topic.

My 2013 XLT 4x4 appears to have this with about 52K on it. This thread took forever to read but has been very informative including the TSBs to reference!

I am dreading having to deal with it. Some weeks it's 5 out 5 cold starts, others 2-3 out of 5 and other weeks I might get by with 1 out of 5. Murphy's Law states that if I take it into my dealer, that will be the 1 out of 5 week and they will say they hear nothing and send me packing.

I have captured it multiple times on video, but if I read correctly that is inadmissable as proof of the issue. I had thought I could send them to the 'Ford Service' team on this forum, but it appears they bailed in February.

Guess I'll have to think on what do to before clocking another 8K on it.

Other than that I love everything about it. I bought it used, but it was quite an upgrade after putting 15 years and 180K on my 2001 Lariat!

Here's a sample:

Hey Joe, welcome to the forum!
As the TSB states now the dealer doesn't actually have to hear the issue. So all you'll have to do is head in and talk to the service manager and you should be set.
It's not as terrible as I thought it would be. Took two days and I had my truck back.

Really? Well that is encouraging. I may arrange for a backup vehicle next week after the holiday and see how it goes. Thanks!

Yessir!! Heck, if you're under warranty get them to give you a loaner free of charge!

Ha! I can only hope it will go that smoothly. There are a lot of posts in this thread where people had a lot of difficulty having their dealer actually hear the problem and agree to proceed. Will give it a go next week though. If anyone has had luck with this in and around Charlotte NC and can recommend a dealer, let me know. Closest to me are Crossroads or Town and Country.

If the dealer refuses to do the work give one of the Ford Customer Service reps on this page a PM and they can help sort you out. They've been fantastic at giving the dealerships a kick in the ****.

I'm told they departed months ago. Must have been a tough crowd.
