Maybe but his question was exactly the same. All I'm saying is don't half *** it or you're going to be opening it again shortly.

I had less than a week left on my powertrain warranty when I heard the rattle (2011, 88000km). My dealer did the TSB under warranty without hearing the noise. I would think most dealers would want the job as the TSB says they don't actually have to hear it and it's a big job. Maybe too big a job? My truck was in from Thursday morning until Monday afternoon. It was supposed to only take 1.5 days.

Good for you. I heard an occasional sound for a while on startup I thought was a fan. My wife commented on how bad it sounded when I started the truck. It didn’t sound that bad to me. Then I realized it sounds completely different outside the vehicle than inside the vehicle. Googled it, “oh crap” this is serious….

500 miles past powertrain
Been getting the runaround about any sort of help or adjustment from Ford or dealer. Ford tells me the decision is in the dealer’s hands, the dealer tells me they are waiting on Ford. This is my first truck and I definitely like having a truck, but this is most certainly leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

This whole situation is rather silly. I took it to the dealer over two weeks ago and the service department has sent several emails to their Ford contact but they aren’t getting a response. If Ford said they weren’t going to provide assistance I wouldn’t be happy but it would at least be a resolution. The dealership was getting responses on other cases but apparently she has gone AWOL the past week or so. I want to quit beating the crap out of my engine each morning.

That may be well and good for you but that playing roulette with your motor and it's silly to think you'll be the standard when it comes to longevity with the noise.

Never said it was the standard, just giving an update. Most guys don't even keep their trucks to 185,000 miles

For those of you with the startup rattle, did your truck seem sluggish before it was repaired. Did the fix restore its lost power?
