2011 ecoboost noise on start up
#1521
The noise on my truck occurred this afternoon during a cold start. Truck sat most of yesterday, through last night, and I started it this afternoon. Let me know what you think.
This is a non-turbo 3.7 engine.

Hard to tell from the video but that don't really sound like what we are talking about, I don't think St least. Always hard to tell in videos though

I'm not so sure it sounds the same either. That's why I asked about whether everybody's noise started out shorter in duration and grew over time. It's going to the dealer tomorrow morning regardless.

Yeah yours sounds more like something with the starter getting hung up maybe? Yours happens right when it fires...this other rattling happens a split second after the truck starts. Just sound completely different in my opinion

Found the same thing on my solenoids when replacing the timing chain. There was even more debris on some of them. After cleaning all four solenoids with gas, found this dirt to be abrasive like sand, baibe this stuff come from the casting, and it wasn't cleaned enought prior building the motor?

Dealer still working on my truck but sent a couple of photos to prove they are working on it. Taking forever to get fixed.

Yikes I hope it's not the oil and brake kid doing that job.
What scares me when I take mine in to get the job done is that they mess up something even more catastrophic and it doesn't fail until I'm out of warranty completely. We all know how mechanics love low pay warranty work.
