So far this week I am batting 100% with the noise after the truck has sat for a prolonged period.

I find it weird that mine has yet to throw any codes with it happening on such a regular basis.

For those who have had the noise for a while does it progressively get worse and will end up happening all the time? Has there been documented cases where the engine finally just craps out?
I understand where you're coming from. We've escalated your case to our highest point of contact. I recommend continuing to work with your dealer on this. Also, I suggest keeping all service receipts in case of any future customer satisfaction programs.

As I still have just under 20,000km left on my power train warranty due you think it is possible that it would void my warranty if something were to happen?

I dunno, if you have a crappy dealer they can try to blame it on anything. But I have to think having oil pressure at start up is better than a dry start gradually causing damage to your engine. That's the way I look at it, my new chain is warrantied for another 22 months but that didnt stop me from throwing it in. And I am going to be completely honest with my dealer and tell them I threw this in and it stopped the noise...because it helps them to help other people if they know what is happening

How would you know number of defects? Do you really think Ford would admit there is a problem? That costs huge money for them. What's better than letting the "end user" foot the bill and pretend it's a isolated incident. I have been to Wayne Pitman Ford in Guelph spoke with their master mechanic who even said he's amazed with the number of ecoboost trucks coming through for timing chains there hasn't been a recall yet.

Same story at Dixie Ford in Mississauga, same story at Streetsville Ford also in Mississauga. As you can see I have been to more than a few dealerships.

I also know companies that have their corporate fleets returned to dealerships due to the timing chain and general unreliability issues. This particular company had 62 ecoboosts in their fleet of which 20 had timing chain issues. Yeah no problems here. This problem is more wide spread than Ford is admitting too.

Oh and if there are is no problems trying googling ecoboost timing chain issues, P0016. See how many results you get. See how many disappointed Ford customers are out there just like me. And when this lemon goes on its 4th timing chain I can't wait to hear the Ford Canada service reps tell me this is another isolated incident. Keep reading the script boys and girls,

What weight of oil are you using. I have 5W30 in mine. Will the Lucas additive cause issues with the 5W30? Thanks!

Gotta love the internet and the stories. If your sample was indicative of the larger population, this and other boards would be filled with timing chain stories. But alas...they're not. Despite what you think, it's just not that common with the engine.

I don't, but it's not 700,000.
My bet would be something less than 1% of the trucks sold.

Sucks if your one of them.

My only hope is that you have to put $3,500 into your engine when it's 15,000 miles out of warranty only to have the repair parts fail a week later and not have Ford stand behind the fix. Maybe by then it'll be common knowledge and you'll have realized just how badly you got suckered.
