Its out of warranty...I would give you very little chance ford will fix this on their dime. Heck, most of the people that are under warranty are having a tough time getting it fixed

I believe the VCT should be covered under emission equipment warranty ? Obviously the rest of the emission stuff cannot work if the VCT isn't. U cannot pass the test if the CEL is lit.

Of course, it was after my warrenty. Am I screwed? Does anyone have a direction to point me? I also noticed this week that when merging on to an expressway, it downshifts to 3rd gear and hesitates terribly and the only way to remedy is to let off the gas and let the engine and tranny catch up. Do you think Ford will cover any of this or will it be out of pocket? HELP!!!!
Unless you can manage to buy the extended warranty now, you will be out of luck. I would look into the warranty. You will have to have a ford dealer do a warranty check first. I took mine in 1000kms after factory warranty. I'm glad I bought the ESP for bumper to bumper coverage. I get my truck back tomorrow AM.

Some of you guys may want to drop your oil pan and see if you have any Contamination in your sump or pan.

Although it could be named something different on that page. The vvt system basically works like an egr. The only crappy part is that it looks like it isn't under the 8yr warranty items.

Just picked my truck up from service. They replaced the timing chain and the tensioner(along with all necessary gaskets etc). First start in the lot, chain rattle… and it idles like a 72 Chevelle with a cam job. Even after warm up, it shakes at idle. It hesitates under throttle as well. Let's just say I'm not too happy.

I'm going after work to pick up the coyote :-) I'm going to miss my Eco but need something I'm not worried about ALL the time.

Tyssa'sRide....keep us posted on what the "real" fix is when you take it back. I am in the same boat, but mine waited about 3k miles to rattle after new chain/tensioners/guides.
