Well mine did it again this morning. Even after a filter change back to OEM Motocraft because I thought the drain back valve may have been bad in the other one. No such luck. Will keep trying to video as mine only does it like one out of every 5 starts and the vacuum pump was changed 13,000 Km ago so doubt it is that though it has gone through a winter with salt. Will get video and post when and where I hear the noise.
I hope everyone who has any of these issues is forming a National Complaint and registering it with the proper federal service to get a case against ford for Recall or TSB etc.

I've been having this same start up noise for over a year now. First couple of times they couldn't replicate the sound and nothing was done. Then they replace the cam phasers. Didn't fixed the problem. Took it several times more after still having issues and couldn't replicate. Last time I brought it in August I had several videos to show them and they were able to replicate the sound after dropping on a Saturday and they started it on a Monday. After having the truck for over two weeks they replaced the timing chain, tensioner and gaskets. Couple of days after picking the truck the noise is back. I've continued to record cold starts and the video below is the last one I recorded. It did it today again when I was leaving work. First time it happens during the middle of the day so didn't recorded since wasn't expecting it. Has anyone here had this issue and had it fixed by Ford? Not sure if I should ask them to check vacuum pump since some had that replaced. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Its the turbo!! I had the same noise, my truck did it every 4-5 cold starts. I took my truck in to the dealership, it took them awhile to diagnose the problem and replicate the sound but sure enough they did. They said it was the turbo, they replaced the passenger side turbo and its been 3 weeks now and I have yet to hear that horrible sound.

Like cord said, I sold my truck. They have no idea what the fix is. At my last visit they said it rattled because my oil was 3/4ths of a quart low...they also said it's a characteristic of the engine... I just couldn't take anymore chances on the truck. I need a reliable vehicle. Sucks because I really liked my truck and I really didn't want to start over with a new car note. I had the truck about 3 years, it was in the shop 5 or 6 times. This was my second f150,my mom drives a f250 fx4,my brother drives a f150,may be the last Ford for us. I wish you guys the best of luck.

Here's what she sound like when I fired her up this morning. The truck goes into my local Ford Dealer today where it will sit until Monday and hopefully make the noise for them.

My dealership just told me its the A/C compressor cycling briefly at startup and nothing can be done about it...<sigh> Welp - at least its documented for if/when it turns into a major problem.

Pull the A/C fuse and try again. I can't believe they pulled that one on you. Oh wait, maybe I can!

I had my chain replaced about a year ago at 65000mi. For a while now I've heard the rattle if the truck sat for a couple of days. Now with this cold snap it's been in the low 40's in the am. Every morning I've gotten the rattle. No check engine light so I'm going to push the repair off for a bit longer. 95,000mi and I'm already looking at my second chain. Wondering if this shouldn't be in the owners manual as a 50000mi service interval?
