Help your Parents.

Go to rockauto . com and order at set of (6) SP534 plugs. It will cost less than $30.

Remove the engine cover (pull up the front and pull forward,) each coil pack (careful with the red tab on the connector - and mark them or lay them in order) and replace each plug. It's pretty deep, so an extension magnet is helpful. Just snug the plugs, 11 in/lbs is very light pressure. Total time to complete 40 mins to 1:10 tops (bout a 1.5 beer process.)

Life is tooooo short. This very simple, inexpensive procedure has a good chance of solving at least one if not all of the truck's issues.

I've been wanting to do this, but getting him to leave me his truck (doesnt like to drive mine) isnt easy. Guess i'll order, and do it while he's sleeping (3rd shift perks).

Replace the plugs.

People have been reporting fouling as early as 30k, and stock plugs are known to have inconsistent gaps.

if you do it, keep the old ones, measure all the gaps on the old (and the new before you put them in for that matter) and post pics, curious to see the old plugs and their gaps.

Will do. I've seen you can order the new ones already gapped to stock specs, it'll make it a bit easier.

Does oil have gasoline odor? I've read about direct injection causing some Ecoboosts to allow gasoline to get in oil. It seems (seems, I said) that catch can thingamajig can help with that. Keep us posted.
