We hover around zero or -10 at the most most of the winter. Beginning of feb we hit -20 for sure. I’m willing to bet that’s when things happened on my truck

People who live in -30 find -20 to be a heat wave; I walk around without gloves in -15C. Winnipeg, Edmonton and Saskatoon have it way worse than Calgary, so I can't complain, but I am sick of the cold this winter!!

Hey guys, i tried to post this earlier but it looks like something went wrong. Anyways, i bought a used 2013 f-150 with the 5.0 about 2 years ago. It has had a coolant leak the whole time. Almost immediately, i had to replace the y-pipe and o-rings, like many of you have posted about. That helped, but i was still smelling coolant and had to add water every once in a while. I could never find the leak until last weekend when i saw some wetness under the intake manifold. Upon further inspection, there was orange coolant all along the fuel rail and up and down the intake manifold. Long story short, after taking off the manifold and looking around finding nothing, i noticed coolant leaking from the HVAC heater hose quick disconnect where it comes into the engine. I replaced the o-rings in that QD today with 2.5x19mm o-rings...i had them on hand and they were the closest i could match by eye...but they look a little thin (maybe the stock are 3.0 mm?). There were 2 o-rings in the QD, and what im assuming was solidified coolant (broken chunks)...however i suppose it could have been a plastic spacer or something between the 2 o-rings? I haven't been able to find anything that specifies the size of the o-rings, or number that are supposed to be in that QD. I did bring the truck up to normal operating temp and went for a short drive with the heat on and didn't see any obvious leaking...so maybe i got lucky. I'm hoping someone on here can help me out with the required o-rings and everything. Thanks in advance!

Wes

Default Replacement for garbage T connector

I bought a new T connector today and 2 o rings as my T is leaking on my 13-5.0 Checked all the local hardware stores and plumbing supply stores and wasn't able to find anything that I could use to replace this GARBAGE T connector. Has anyone found something that will work for this? Would really rather an aluminum or brass T with hose clamps to be rid of this leaking crap!

I just only replaced the O-rings in the T connector on my 2013 and nearly a year later I haven't had problems. It only cost a few bucks and wasn't hard to do.

I'm trying to find the correct "silicone grease" for the O-Ring that goes in the Y pipe. Is this basically the same stuff as dielectric grease? According to wikipedia, dielectric grease and silicone grease are the same thing, so I'm asking here to get a better and more informed opinion.

Default What’s the trick???

1st post on this forum. I’ve used it so many times for information and it’s always been so incredibly helpful! Thanks to all who submit!!
So my issue is I have a 2012 F150 FX2 and like all of you have encountered the infamous coolant leaks. I repaired the reservoir leak with the Pegasus repair kit about a year and a half ago and it is still holding strong. Now I’m working on the Y connector leak with the worn O-rings. I got a replacement kit from the O-Ring Store but I cannot for the life of me get the hose back on with the new o-ring. I mean, it’s not even pretending to go on! How did y’all do it?! Any tricks or tips? I only tried the upper radiator hose so far and am using a 4mm x 37mm per others’ success on this forum. Tried lubing it all up, tried heating the o-ring in hot water to make it more pliable....nothing. Maybe I just need to get back in the gym 😕 Please help!

if it's the upperradiator hose that goes into the Y connector to the water pump I tried putting a new o ring on it. But there's a plastic one built into the hose. I ended up just buying a new hose.
