Default 2011 5.0 Knock

Hello and Good evening everyone,
I seem to be another person that is having an issue with the dreaded 5.0 tick / knock and it's driving me nuts. I have been to multiple dealerships a few times and they have either told me it's no issue or, like this latest time, the dealership told me it was my transmission? I finally got a video of it and i want to know what you all think. My truck is an October of 2010 build truck with 107K miles. Below is the link to the video on my YouTube channel.

mine sounded like that until i got a short block warr replacment. something tells me that if youve made 107K already, and thou its annoying, it will run well into 200k.

now i'd proly ditch before the 200k mark, but i honestly think even with knock ( mine was oval cly 6) that it could have run ( ran just fine at the time minus sound) for a long time.

You're probably right. She's heading to the dealership friday though and if I'm given the right deal on a super duty I wont pass it up.

Not here to scare ya, but a friend of mine has had a knock/tick for a year or so. The dealer said "that's normal for this 5.0L". He also wasn't concerned with it "using" 1qt of oil every 2000 miles.

Well yesterday at 154k miles the #8 piston ate the exhaust valve.

If you can it get done under warranty...go for it. Mine is way past warranty so I don't lose sleep over it.

Out of curiosity, when does it knock, Dead cold, During warm up or all the time while at operating temp?

It'll do it on startup sometimes but other than that it does it when it's warm and either just sitting or at low rpm's either speeding up or slowing down.

Mine has been doing it for a while and sounds very similar to yours but never does in when dead cold, only during warmup and once it hits 190 degrees it goes away for the most part.

Have you had yours into the dealer yet?
