Default 2011 5.0 dependability

New member, looking to buy a truck tomorrow and have been trying to find some good info on if the 5.0 has many problems. Being that its the first year for the 5.0 I would normally stay away for a few years. It's a 2011 f150 4x4 screw with about 34000 miles. Also how long is ford engine warranty and is it transferable? Would car fax show all engine work done buy a dealer?

The truck is at a gm dealer and to me that sends up a flag. I always told myself to never buy a ford at a gm dealer or chevy at a ford dealer just to good of a chance the owner had problems and jumped brands.

I have a unique situation that I bought a truck last weekend from the same dealer and they have a 7 day return or 30 day exchange policy. The truck I bought is awesome but the gas mileage is low. The dealer is a great and i would like to buy from them again and this is the only ford with the 5.0.

The powertrain warranty is 5 years/60,000 miles and is fully transferable. You won't find warranty work on a Carfax report, but if you take the VIN to a friendly Ford dealer's service department they may provide an OASIS report which will.

I haven't had any trouble with mine. It was built in November of 2011.

I also have a 5.0 built nov 2011!! only probs ive had are over airing the pierrelis** to 45# and getting a tpms fault and i busted the mirror glass driver side by backing into a mail box last week..with the heated non power fold i threw $224 at tusca for a new one ..long story short I love my 5.0 as its problem free unlike my 06' 5.4. mine was a dealer demo i bought in feb with 2800 miles and shes been good ..now sitting at 6800!..so long as you can get a smokin deal i saw do it

ps. DO NOT BUY SOME CRAPPY NON FORD WARRANTY FROM THEM..get an ESP< ex. service protection from one of the dealers online as most dealer cant beat their prices!

Mine was built on June 29, 2011 and I bought it that November. No problems after ~37,000mi. Don't always assume worst case on it being a Ford at a GM dealer. A lot of people buy trucks and sports cars only to come to terms a year or so down the road that they don't really need it/want it. Did the dealer tell you how they got the vehicle? Trade I assume, if so on what? They could've traded it on a small car for all you know. If I drive smooth on the go pedal mine will knock down 17.5-18mpg all day long (19-20 if you baby it) in mixed driving (4x4, SCrew, 3.73s, 33" AT Tires, Camper Shell (200lbs), and another 200lbs of crap in the bed). If I drive it more spiritedly about 16-16.5 is the norm and it gets about 12.5-13 with my 4,000lb fish&ski boat behind it.

It looks like most of you have 2012 by the build dates.

I'm not sure if its a smokin deal, they have a no hassle price of 27500.00 (was 28400.00 earlier this week) It said that its a xlt but I just ran the vin on this site and that said its just a xt and only had a msrp of about 33,000.

No, 2012s started late in 2011...later than they usually do so most of us are 2011s... What is NADA or KBB value on it?

That VIN thing is crap. Don't trust it. Told me I had a 6.2 xlt or something way off. Pretty sure I hear turbo wine from under my hood...
