My truck went in for a TSB on turbo actuators and was reflashed also.
Strategy is KGCH5A8....
I swear it felt weaker afterwards too.
I ran custom tunes in it shortly afterwards, now stock feels very weak compared to a 91 performance tune.
Plugs were also re gapped...

So I took my truck in to my local dealer Monday for a 20k service. I also mentioned
-a stumble/misfire on cold starts
-occasional blue cloud of smoke on cold starts
-lack of power after CAC and catalyst replacement
-truck not wanting to stay in sixth gear any more, always hunting for 5th
-Even towing a light trailer, it feels like a huge load.
A service tech with a 2013 Ecoboost worked on it. Put like 20 miles on it and datalogged. Shifts were commanded from 1-6 and back and the transmission complied. No misfiring recorded. No codes. Nothing abnormal. Truck runs as it should.
The tech said that the way it drives now is Ford's new strategy.
Gone is my wanna-be diesel Ecoboost that never downshifted unless REALLY prodded. Replaced by an Ecoboost that drives like the 3.7 I rented. Revs to the moon at any opportunity. Used to want to rip the tires of the rims, now it just accelerates with a wheeze.
Garbage. That diesel-like drivability is what sold me on the Ecoboost. Now I have less power and a rev-happy motor. Great.
And it got 9mpg towing a Harley from SF to PHX and back. In an open U-haul trailer. Awesome. Glad there's only 24 months left on my lease. 5.0 is going in the next rig.
