Window Vent Visors: Stick-on vs. In-channel?

For those with 2011-up f150s an want or have in-channel vent visors and are having or are concerned about the safety feature (bounce back) that these trucks are equipped with there is a fix. After install of the in-channel vent visors you must retrain the windows. The power window motors in these trucks are set up from the factory to close with a certain force, when in-channel vent visors are installed the window requires more force to completely close without bouncing back, thats where the retrain comes in, you have to retrain the windows to close with more force so they don't bounce back when closing the window. This does not disable the safety feature rather changes how much force is required to make them bounce back.
How to retrain:
- first you must kill power to each window while it is in travel, either up or down by either pulling the fuse for each window while it is traveling or disconnect the battery, I pulled the fuses. They are 30 amp fuses located in the passenger side kick panel in fuse positions 1 (drivers) and 3 ( passengers). This resets the motors
- after this is completed replace the fuses. To retrain the up position the window must be in the full down position. Then close the window by pulling the window switch up into the auto close position ( second detent) and holding it until the window is fully closed and for 2 seconds after it is closed then release the switch. Then push the switch down into the auto down position (second detent) and hold it down until the window reaches the full open position and for 2 seconds after then release the switch.
- The window has now been retrained. Test for proper operation, and perform these steps on both windows. Once complete they should close without bouncing back. Note, during the up and down training the bounce back feature is disabled and will not allow the window to bounce back, watch your fingers an any other obstructions in the windows path while performing this operation. Good luck. Worked for me.

Otherwise, I'm just going to swap the fronts to the stick-on version.

I went with the AVS low-profile stick-ons and have zero issues. They seem very solid and look plenty clean to the eye in terms of blending with the truck. I didn't want to deal with the window issues and I'd recommend them.
