Used Xcal 2

I have found a cheap used Xcal 2, but the codes on it are for a Mustang.

My question is what does anyone know how much it costs to get for custom tunes for it? I know many people like Troyer Performance, anyone know the costs for their tunes?

If the tunes separately cost too much, it is pointless to get a used one and I might as well save up a bit and get a new one.

I want to say the tunes should run about 150ish. Even if you buy a new one you still have to pay for the tunes. So a used one may be the way to go. What I don't know is if he has to send it back to SCT to get it unlocked. Did the previous owner put his/her car back to stock? If not then SCT has to unlock it for the tuner.

First, thanks NGM for the info.

I had some time over my lunch hour and contacted Troyer Performance to get actual numbers. The tunes are going for about $75 apiece. The "general" estimate I got was $225 for 3 tunes.

Just thought I would pass that on for others looking at getting a used Xcal 2.

Out of curiosity, is anyone using the Xcal 2 "fuel saving" tune for 89/90 octane (gas/ethanol mix)? If so what type of MPGs are you seeing?

How much are you getting the tuner for?

Tyrohew 06-26-2007 09:55 AM

Snoozed and lost it....

Unfortunately, it was sold by the time I got back over to get it on Sunday. It was being sold for $40. I am watching e-bay now, and looking for a deal. Cheapest one there I have seen is around $150. By the time I spend that amount and get the tunes, I may as well spend a few extra bucks and get the new one from Troyer.
