Yah it's a pre loaded tuner I'm sure. I took it out of my silverado and ran it in my brothers dodge and have had no issues with it. I think in the end a custom SCT tune from a company like 5star is what ill do thanks

My son keeps telling me I should put a tuner on my truck. 2013 F150 4x4 SCREW Ecoboost.
How would this effect my warranty. Truck only has 500 miles on it.

Thanks

i bought a use sct 3015 tuner from franchi. the generic 87 octane tune was ok and the truck was more responsive from a stop but i didn't feel any difference in shifting. so i added some user touches.

all shifts plus 25%
redline at 56 or 5800
+3 mph 1st to 2nd shift
top speed to 125 mph
+2 degrees timing across the range - global

now it feels like what i expected. managed 119 mph by gps on level road a while ago. seems decent for a 2010 reg cab short bed with 4.6 2v and 87 octane. only other mod is gotts snorkel removal.

also franchi was very helpful by phone and pm with the check engine light and other info.

Just got my sct 3015 today. A few days ago my truck was on empty, filled up with 91 octane (Cali). The tuner had 3 settings, as most know, 87, 91, and 93. So I set it at 91. I didnt touch any other settings such as shift points, etc. because I dont know what/where to set that stuff at.

I will say that I did expect more but I do realize that I had prolly gassed myself up to expect more. Dont get me wrong, I DID feel a difference out of that canned tune. Just thought it'd be more.

I am happy with the tuner, glad I bought it, and would do it again. It DID wake the truck up.

I sent an email to Mike from 5star tuning and asked for info on 2 custom tunes. What I'm looking for are the best "eco" and "performance" tune both of off 91 octane.

Does that sound right or will I get better mpg's of off the performance 91 tune, if light on the foot?

It really depends on the tunes and the truck. My truck has 35's and stock gearing, so I get a little better mpg with the performance tune due to the added power.

Ya, that's not the first time that I'm hearing/reading that a truck will get better mpg's of off a higher octane tune, if driving proper.

I got my 2 custom tunes from 5star today. 91 eco and performance. I've only installed the 91 performance. WOW Like everyone says once they've uploaded a tune, it is like night and day. Tons of throttle response compared to before. Zero throttle lag just like SCT and 5star advertise. I'm not saying I'm gonna start to win races, but my 4.6 is starting to be a bit more fun to drive.

Thanks to Franci Motorsports for the SCT 3015
Thanks to Mike @ 5star for the quick and easy purchase of my tunes.
Highly recommended.

Does the x2 have no canned tunes?

I bought the Edge CS recently from Auto Anything (with a Forum discount, thank you very much), and loaded the towing tune to try it out. 5.4 Triton, BTW. Gas mileage in mixed driving, which locally consists of 5-10 miles of 65 MPH followed by 20 miles in stop and go traffic, went from 14.2 to 16.7. This is with 87 octane and the Mileage Coach ON. Haven't tweaked any other settings so far, but would consider raising the RPM and speed limiters.

Most interesting observation with the Edge so far was the inlet air temp. It goes from near-ambient at normal speeds, but rises to well over 200 degrees when stuck in traffic for an extended period. When it gets that hot, the idle speed bumps up several hundred RPM, completely destroying the already awful MPG from heavy traffic. Not sure why a faster idle would help the engine, but I'm sure there's a good reason.
