I'm comparing JMS and VMP tuning at the moment; seeing what it takes to order a customed tuned SCT X-3. JMS asks you nothing about your vehicle. The X-3 is good for Ford vehicles.
VMP asks you the make, model, year, tire size, gears, engine size, mods and computer code. They also let you pick the tunes you want, like 87 octane performance or gas saver or towing. The same for 89, 91, 92 and 93 octane.

VMP is $20 more, but it seems that it is more custom tuned.

Any CUSTOM tune will need the ECM/PCM code off your truck (4 digit code usually found on fuse box in engine bay, white sticker) and any performance/gears/tires ect ect.

Troyer Performance, VMP, 5 Star Tuning, BlowbyRacing, Brenspeed, they all are very solid tuners.

Default sctx3

i bought a sctx3 for my 2010 f150 4.6l 2v, and it was a great purchase, i havent got any other tunes for it but the ones that come on it but it made a huge difference in shifting and power, and mpg's are up to 21 on the hwy, i also have a flowmaster muffler and an afe air filter replacement after the gotts mod. very happy with the sct

Default Some clarification on SCT and Griffin

Greetings all,

I am in the market for a programer as well but have a question about the SCT and Griffin/Edge tuners. My truck is a 2010 FX4 SCrew.

Does the Griffin/Edge programer have the ability to set the programing back to factory or have the ability to remove the traction control feature?

I paid a visit to the VMPTuning site and noticed that there is an option to have the traction control turned off. I also noticed the SCT is a hand held tuner and there is the need to plug it in the OBIII port each time you need to load a new tune. I guess this wouldn't be an issue because it doesn't take that long to change a tune? I would have no idea how long it takes because I've never done this before.

Thanks for any input

P.S.

Yes the gryphon/edge can load a factory tune back, takes about 15-30seconds. No option to turn off TCS

They all need the port. The dash turners stay plugged in full time. Wireless uses a Bluetooth setup. The sender stays in the port and the tuner needs an alternate source of power.
