Isn't there a setting on the Edge where you can monitor A/F ratio?? So if you mash the gas and the Edge says you are running lean then get out of the throttle.

I am new to all of this am I am trying to learn all I can.

Once I am done with modding I am going send the Edge to PHP to get custom tunes done!!!
You can monitor Air Mass, and Air Volume. Mass/Volume=Density so you can find the density of the air, but it doesnt show how much fuel is going in I don't believe.

More HP=More Fuel
Lean Condition=Less Fuel or more air but we already stated there was a stock intake.

No doubt a custom tune is better, but I still don't believe the edge will run you "more lean than stock" yet add HP. The two statements are contradictory.
Hard to explain how it was told to me. When I talked to Mike Troyer about it on the phone, he said that there are thousands of different strategy codes for the 04-08 F150. The Edge simply takes your stock strategy and replaces it with its own. However, many of these codes for some reason have small differences in the tune that can be further affected by the Edge programming.

Custom tailor the tune for your specific strategy code, avoid all problems. Call Mike, you'll learn a ton and he's great to talk to.

I'm thinkin about buying a SCT X3 programer. Does anyone own one of these? If so what are the pros and cons of it? I've heard it's a pretty good programer. I have a 4.6l 2v if it matters at all. How much would it change the power of the 4.6?

I am also looking into purchasing a programmer. It just seems so overwhelming with the different types of tuners and different tunes...I want a tuner that will run diagnostics of my truck and help to increase fuel mileage. I also want to be able to turn off O2 sensors.

I see most people using edge; are they the best for what I am looking for?

Ummm AFAIK none of the tuners will turn off O2 sensors because these are all EFI engines and will not run correctly w/o them.

He's talking about the rear O2 sensors. You're right the fronts cannot be turned off. A custom tune will be needed to turn off the rears however, and the Edge cannot do that. A custom device like the Gryphon can do that.

Talking

Just got my Edge Evo yesterday. So far I like it quite a bit. The custom dash mount is really nice and parameters are seen easily.

Does anyone have specific settings that they like to set on the Evo for their 5.4? I tried all three power levels last night. Seems level 2 (towing) had some problems shifting from 1st to 2nd. So far I am liking running level 3 with 93 octane. Anyone else running level 3? and if so, all the time?

Just from my commute this morning (30 miles) my AMPG parameter on my evo said I am getting about 16 mpg, which is a lot better than I have been getting (12-13mpg), but that depends on how accurate the evo actually is.

All in all I like the product a lot. Great display, custom dash mount, up to 4 parameters at a time, and I can really tell a difference in power/responsiveness. It suites my needs pretty well. My whole reason for getting it is to adjust my tire size, but there is so much more than just that.

My 2 cents.
