Tuner/Programmers
I have a hypertech max energy on my 08 4.6l 2v. I think they are a waste of money. I have mine set on premium fuel +500rpm rev limiter, +300rpm from 1st-2nd, +300rpm 2nd-3rd, and + 400rpm 3rd-4th. Shift firmness 100% Other than a firmer shift and it winding up more between shifts. I can't tell that it even done anything. It falls on its face when i hit even a slight grade. I put 285/70/17 tires to replace the stock 255/70/17. With 3:55 gears I need more power. According to all these threads the Edge evo seems to be the way to go. I'm more than likley going to ditch the Hypertech and try the Edge.
I have the Bully Dog Gas GT. I have only used it on the regluar 87 octane setting with the firm shifting. I think this is a really good tuner, I like the driving coach feature. It does take more time to switch between the initial setup settings. You have to return everything to stock first before changing.
I installed my Superchip 1865 replacing my Evolution CS, so far I like the 1865 much better as the pod was annoying sitting on the dash (got in the way of my GPS).
I did notice that there is more snapping of the neck when you stomp the go fast peddle. I will get over that soon enough as I go into fuel saver mode ($5.00 a gallon here in Ontario Canada).

I just recently purchased a 2010 F150 FX4. This is the first newer vehicle Ive ever owned, I had a 66 mustang for years untill it got stolen in Hawaii.
So I am new to the whole computer chips and tuning and things. I have a cold air intake on my truck right now but nothing else. I am planning on doing exhaust and headers but that will be later. I have the 5.4 V8. I need advice on the best tuner to get for my truck. Also which is better to get a new chip or a new tuner or both. If I get a tuner should I have it professionaly programed or would I be able to do it myself. Any input would be awesome thanks.

2004 FX4 5.4L - Bully Dog GT Gas Tuner
With the chip alone i've added an extra 3-4 miles per gallon (without following the Driving Coach that comes with the module). Being able to tune my computer with my upgraded 33" tire size as well as the ability to create custom shift points and take off my speed limiter have helped a lot. I'm not sure what the precise power gain was, but I can definitely feel a difference in reaction and acceleration. I would reccomend it to anyone who's looking for a pretty affordable and simple plug and play option.

Don't know about HP and didn't see much if any MPG improvement, but over driving and quick response from take off is really noticable in my truck with Diable Sport & 87 Oct modded for my gears & tire size.
