If you know ahead of time you will be getting custom tunes then it makes no sense to start with the original Edge as you have to send the unit to PHP for the conversion which basically is unlocking it and replacing all the plastic covering with plain black ones (no Edge, CARB or ser # stickers).

On 2004 intakes supposedly made a difference (requiring a custom tune) since they supposedly ran lean from the factory, but that was changed in 05 or 06. I don't see a replacement single exhaust making any difference at all. You are only changing the sound. You still have the factory "Y" so even if the pipe gets bigger after that it still has the bottleneck of the "Y" and that will not change, therefore no flow improvement. If they OEM has crimped bends and the new one is mandrel bent then yes some flow improvement but I don't see either mod requiring a custom tune. But feel free to contact Edge and PHP.

I average about 14mpg for approximately equal street and highway with no gear mod and 37" mud's. I got 18 over the weekend but that was because I did a 2hr drive each way. So normally I get 300-320gal/tank. I still have an 1/8 or 1/4 tank and without the tune I would have had to refill on the way back. Keep in mind I have headers and a custom dual exhaust (no "Y" section).

I would use the gryphon. It is programable by most tuners and basically the same options plus more than the edge. Edge is great for stock trucks, but if you have anything aftermarket(intake, exhaust) it would be a waste not to go for the gryphon. And ive heard only great things about PHP. I deal with Troyer and they've been great as far as contacting me and providing me with information

allright, gryphon it is... I downloaded the order form and it asks what kind of calibration I want, I am just looking to buy 2 custom calibrations, one that isnt hard on the tranny and gets decent gas mileage and another one maybe for towing or performance? (the biggest thing i will be towing will be a enclosed snowmobile trailer with 2 sleds) What suggestions do you guys have?

You need to give them the weight of toys + trailer as it may not require a tow tune, but it's nice to have one anyhow. The reason I mention that is you can keep the initial price down and purchase additional tunes later which can be downloaded. I can tow my motorcycle with the performance tune.

For performance you can choose different octane levels depending on what is available in your area or as in my case I chose 87 for price. I believe Florida and Texas get 93 and the stock Edge tunes are set for 91.

If you have an A/M intake, it will work great (should add a little more fuel to account for the added air). Make sure you have the latest software before trying.

Default Edge Cs

I just bought a new Edge Evo CS and I really like the performance in produced for my truck. Has anyone had any problems with it? And IF you do own one how do you like it?

I bought a Jet Chips Programmer for my truck and really like the results. It seems to add quite a bit of power to the top end, where before it started to lose power.

Default help please asap

ok most of the tuner talk is honestly over my head, I have a 2010 5.3L and I recently ordered a K&N CAI 63 series. after doing many searches here for tuner/CAI stuff i have decided to get a tuner but i have a couple vital questions. Can i get the hypertech max energy and how will that work vs the other tuners you all are talking about? shouldnt it have a preset tune that is for my truck that i can just tell it i have a CAI? Thank you for the help asap!
