New SCT/5 Star user here - TOTAL believer! After throwing some some 62 lb 295/60R20s on, she had definitely lost some umph and the shift points sucked.

Not any more.....running the 93 Perf/Tow from the boys at 5 Star and it is different truck. Will be interested to see what kind of mileage I get.....if I can keep my foot out of the gas.

We have some excellent custom tunes available for the 2015 models. We've just recently rolled out the 5.0L F150 tunes, and have had the 3.5L EcoBoost out for quite some time now. Feel free to give us a shout if you would like to discuss some options and pricing.

Default easiest to use

Have 2014 5.0 4x4 with 3.55 rear. 265 70 17 wheels. What is the easiest tuner to use. Looking for just a better fuel tune and a performance tune. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Our tuning device is extremely simple to use. Just plug the tuner in and follow the on screen prompts as it scrolls instructions across the screen from the moment you connect it. We have customers that have their teenager switch from performance to tow performance tunes while they are loading the trailer. Our custom tuning would make that 5.0 feel like it actually has a v8 under the hood instead of that factory 1-2-3 go delay they have stock. We improve the drive by wire delay as mentioned in this thread and several other factory weak points while not shortening the life of the vehicle. Not to mention an extra 1-2 MPG on average if you can keep off the throttle. We can adjust for different tire size and gear ratios as well.

Here is a great video of the difference just a tune can do for the F150 vs. stock on the new 2015. (EcoBoost trucks. 5.0L comparison coming soon)

And here is another comparison on the 2011-14 model F150

Default Edge CTS ecoboost

I bought the Edge CTS for my 2013 ecoboost and hooked it up yesterday. First thing I noticed on the box it had a bunch of Chevy models listed but no Fords. I checked the part number on the programmer with the website where I bought it and sure enough it's the right model. Interesting, I thought for $530 this would be programmed specific for my model truck. Oh well, it's here so let's try it out.
So like any overgrown child would, I went straight to the "race" tune and went out and tried it out. Sure enough it made the truck way faster! Only problem is it felt like someone was kicking me in the back when it shifted, and sounded like the transmission fell off the truck. Not every shift, just 1st to 2nd and every downshift when you put it to the floor. So I pulled over and changed to the economy tune which is supposed to have pretty good gains. Same results, 1st to 2nd...bang the rest of the gears up shifted fine. Crusing along at 65 and put it to the floor, bang as it downshifts. So I drove around some back roads on and off the gas without putting it to the floor and it's impressive how much more power the truck has just driving semi aggressive.
I guess the bottom line for me is the shifting is so harsh when putting the pedal to the floor the transmission would not last long. I debated for a year about buying a programmer because I was worried about damaging the engine and voiding the warranty but haven't heard anything about hard shifting problems. So after a couple hours of fun, the truck is set back to factory settings and the Edge CTS is back in the box. Hopefully I won't have any issues returning it. That's my review, disappointed....

I too have an Edge Evolution CTS for my 2012 Ecoboost. Here's my story of when I first plugged it in two years ago. I first attempted to program my truck to the economy mode, then my truck wouldn't start, everything was dead. I called Edge customer service, plugged my CTS into my computer, and with the Edge fusion software Edge flashed the programmer. My truck then came back to life. I then heard a ticking noise, sounded like a relay trying to activate. Again called Edge and took them a couple weeks to figure out what the problem was and get it corrected. I've now been happy with Edge CTS for two years. rjberfy1 did you call Edge about your issue? My experience with Edge customer service is positive. I'd recommend you call Edge before you give up on your CTS. They'll likely be able to correct your issue.

Are you able to adjust the shift firmness with the CTS?

Thanks for the suggestion, I got the Edge because it was supposed to have a mild tune and easy to work with. I really don't want to be going back and forth plugging it in to the computer and all that. It's tough to explain, but if you could have been in the truck you would understand. It was really that bad and I'm just glad nothing broke. I've had tuners on other trucks and it was plug and go. I will say the power this thing added was impressive but it's not worth the risk of breaking something in the drivetrain. I hate to give a bad review but on the positive side Edge is taking it back and giving me a refund. Maybe they will find something in the program and fix it for future customers.

Yes and I spent a lot of time trying. Every change you make you have to go through the 15 minute process of uploading the new program. The biggest issue was downshifts that were going down 2-3 gears and there is no adjustment for that.
I was really just looking for a tuner to fix my tire size/speedo calibration and add a mild tune to wake the truck up. Even the economy tune was making the shifting harsh.

I bumped up my shift firmness 20% and have more firm, but yet smooth shifts in and out of all gears. The added power in the towing mode is outstanding! I tow a 8,000 pound camper and can climb a decent grade at 65 mph and stay in 6th gear, with boost in the 15-17psi range.
