User Report on Edge EVO HT on Ecoboost 3.5L
User Report on Edge EVO HT on Ecoboost 3.5L
Sometime ago I posted about the Edge EVO HT on Ecoboost 3.5L for my 2012 Screw. I have it set for the Economy tune that allows use with a 6,000 Lb trailer.
The unit I got was evidently in a distributorship somewhere so I used it with old software for sometime. The only negative I found was that twice in 6 months it threw one engine trouble code related to air intake temp not long after a cold startup. As soon as removed it didn't come back for months. I downloaded a new update from Edge and have not had the code reappear yet.
•Truck is a 4 door, 4x4 with a heavy fiberglass bed cover and full of tools as is driven when towing.
•Mileage seems to be about 22 MPG at 70 cruising on the highway.
•It isn't clear as every tune is different, but it is supposed to add at least 50 H.P.
• 0 to 60 time is was 6.4 seconds which was 3/4 of a second faster than stock which is quite an improvement in a quick vehicle.
•1/4 Mile was 91 MPH in 13.6 seconds
• Tuned it has all kinds of weird intake sounds at times taking off from a light slowly. No noises at WOT. I've heard that wierd noises are common after tuning with lots of programmers. ????? It runs great dispite intake or waste gate noises or whatever they are.
•You can't update with Edge with an Apple Computer, so I had to use my son's brand new PC and go through the extra steps of PC's like downloading an application and then going through that application to do the download! I'm used to the automatic and easy downloads with a Mac supported product! Boo.... Edge! The PC Edge download was so buggy it took 14 attempts to get the download completed as it kept coming up with multiple errors I have never even heard of on my Mac.
I got a break from a speed shop I buy a few parts from and it cost me $300. As I don't change tunes, I prefer not to have more modules on the dash I'm not going to use even if some think they look cool.
Hope my report helps somebody looking for a programmer/tuner!

I have looked around on here for some time and it doesn't seem like anyone really has an answer for a 2013 with the 5.0L in it. Does anyone have one and some results of what the tuner did for them? I have a 2013 Fx4 with the 5.0L and K&N intake. Looking to get a programmer next and I really don't know much about them. A few people have suggested the SuperChips Vivid.....

For the 5.0, you can expect about 15-18 horses to the wheels and 30-35 feet of torque increase over stock on a stock 5.0. Also remaps the shift points and you can further adjust that yourself if you want as well. Pm me any questions, glad to help regardless of where you decide to buy one.

That I don't know as I haven't used those particular products. I know afe is a very solid intake but their rwhp claims for both intakes and catbacks are WAAAY off. And magnaflow is a solid brand but I don't know the specific numbers for that combo sorry

I'm going to look at this a bit and then prob message you Franchi. I have K&N intake and I'm about to order the Roush exhaust for my truck. I think it looks pretty good and sounds good as well. I'm always open for suggestions on products.

The whole process makes it hard to sort out. We just delete all the various hardware brands for folks as best we can. Most customers do not care to understand all the details of custom calibrations. Nor do they care about a tool the tech uses. They just want it to work the way they want for a reasonable cost. Here on the west coast of Florida we do just that.
This is a moving target so trying to take aim on "one device" takes alot of trial error. My goal is to do this for them.
