My truck was completely stock except for a Magnaflow cat back exhaust which by the way is purely for ear candy.
When I got my tuner I immediately went and filled up with 93 and put that canned tune in and could tell a little bit of difference, nothing worth the $400 price tag that's for sure.
Then my custom tunes came in via email and BOOM!!! Huge difference.

did you read the OP? custom tune is not in his budget, a canned tune will still be good for him at this point, as well, canned tunes are approved by many dealerships compare to custom tunes.

For a good price I can get the tuner from franchi , or for $450 5*tuning offers tuner and 5 custom tunes. What you guys think ? Or I could buy from franchimotorsports and just go from there , decide if I would like some custom tuning . Anyone hook me up with a good price for 5* or got a coupon code for 5* tuning ?

Discount will show once you add an item to your cart.
What year and motor are you running? Maybe I can give you a better idea of what to expect.

For an 05 4.6L, you can expect at least 11hp over stock on 93 octane along with better shifting, and around 1-2mpg over stock. Even if its just 1mpg, it can pay for itself after 5 years if you drive around 15k miles a year.
For each tune you will choose the Octane, Tune Type, and Shifting Preference.
Engine Settings for Gas Vehicles:
Octane: Gas vehicle tunes are distinguished by the octane of fuel being used. Higher level octane will provide better performance.
Tune Type Settings for Gas Vehicles:
Performance: Tune focusing on the over-all performance of the vehicle. Resulting in the most power gained.
Towing: Tune focusing on towing aspects of the vehicle but still adding performance.
Economy: Tune focusing on the over-all economy of the vehicle, throttle and fuel controlled for economy purposes.
Shifting Preferences for Automatics:
Race: Firmest shift setting, Race will shift fast and very hard. Most likely chirping the tires. If you think Race might be too firm for your preference, it probably is. Choose Street. If you want the fastest firmest shift possible, choose Race.
Street: Will be decently firm, nice increase over stock. Street is the most popular setting for automatic transmissions.
Chill: Will be slightly firmer than stock but not as aggressive as Street.
Stock: Nothing modified related to shifting firmness or torque reduction.

Yes I read ALL posts in a thread before posting, whether or not it's affordable I must inject personal experience and a custom tune is worth saving up for if one is to realize the full potential of the product.

Still looking into Tuners
Can you take a Tune & adjust it, then save it as a new Tune ?
-Planning on upgrading to larger tires in the Spring
-or does it just modify the existing Tune ?
Doesn't say anything about tires but that seems a basic adjustment ? DUH, just read the full description that it is an adjustment I can make
--still wondering if it can then save that as a different tune
Not sure if I want to spend the extra $$ to go from the 7015 to the 5015
Do they both do the "same" thing ?
Just 5015 is touch screen & made to be mounted & used for gauges etc
Trying to figure out the difference between the 2
Seems like Black Fridays a good time to buy
When you buy from MPT/Stage 3 does it come w/3 canned tunes & then you receive 3 custom tunes ?
Or do the 3 custom tunes get loaded & then item is shipped?
Ideally I'd like to Test it between the canned Tunes & the Custom Tunes (MPT site sez they send Custom Via E-mail)
Just need to know if the Custom Tunes replace the 3 canned Tunes
87 Econ (not needed ? - I drive 3800 miles a year)
87 Performance
87 Towing
91 Performance -not really needed, never have put 91 in, but might want to try it

Adjust for common performance bolt-ons such as Cold Air Kits, Exhaust Systems & Gears.
