the 17in rim is stock for my truck .. and i dont want to go bigger if i dont have to, so i dont have to adjust the calipers, and regear or change the computer settings .. i dunno .. im still a newbie (no0b) with the whole truck thing .. ive had it for a year, and im not very mechanucally inclined .. but i am learning .. my wife laughs at my lack of knowledge .. hmm .. maybe this should be in that "most embarasing thing your spouse done with truck" thread ??

HaHa

You really wont need to regear until you get to 37"+ tires and even some guys still havent and wont regear running those big of tires. As far as reseting the speedometer you can change this with the edge if you are looking into buying one in the future. You really dont see to many guys changing their brakes to bigger calippers and other components, so you should be fine running 18"s or 20"s if you wanted too.

If I do go to a bigger rim, i am going to put an aggressive all-terrain tire or multi-terrain tire (like mud tires) on it, so I don't think the diameter will be the same in that case

If you are going to lift your truck you will want at least 35" tires (6 inch lift). Give me some time and ill find a pic of a lifted truck w/ stockers on it and youll agree on wanting bigger meats.
