superchips or edge?

I know all about custom tuning. We sell them everyday. I run custom burns in my truck, and our shop vehicles.
The Edge is a very good product, and even at $450 I personally think its worth the money. You still get so much more for the money with Edge. The performance tests, gauges, data logging...much more than you get with the Xcal2. Remember this is a gasser, how much more hp do you really think you can squeez out of that engine...5 hp maybe. Now if they put a diesel in the F-150's I will gaurentee the Xcal2 will be the way to go.
Its just my opinion, and not ment to upset anyone.

I agree that you probably aren't going to squeeze that much more HP out of the Xcal II with custom tunes than you will with the Edge and canned tunes. For the same amount of money though I'd rather have a tune built specifically for my truck based on my driving style, my modifications and any other inputs I provide about my truck rather than a one size fits all tune.
Think of it this way, if you were going to buy a suit for a job interview and you could buy a nice off the shelf suit for $450 or a custom made suit for the same price which one would you go with?
I have read several posts from users that have the Edge and they love it and that's all that matters. In the end it's a personal choice and as long as you are happy with what you spent your money on then you got a good deal.

Yes you are correct, you can data log with the Xcal2, I was only listing the features the Edge gives you.
What you are getting from Troyer thru email is a canned tune. A true custom tune is done on the rollers of a Dyno. You are basically getting the same thing the next guy is getting with the same truck, cold air intake, and exhaust. So yes, even in the Diesel market the term "Custom tune" is used loosely, but they are most likely tunes that have been developed on a truck that is not yours, just like Superchips, Edge, Diablosport, you name it. The differance is Troyer and others are willing to get you that extra 5hp.
On another note, you now have the option of the Dashhawk from MSD (Edge) and now the SCT Livewire (very sweet)but expensive. So there are many options for any need or desire.
$449 for a custom tuner plus gauges or a Dashawk just seems like bad math to me. That is if your only doing Intake, exhaust, throttle body spacer...you know, the normal stuff. I have been told people like Troyer can do great things if you go with bigger injectors, supercharger...etc. I wouldn't mind having a 2wd F-150 with a supercharger, and NOS that could carry the front tires a few feet. That would be pretty funny pulling out of Wal-Mart! If I needed a custom tune for a setup like that, I would call Troyer myself.

Wait ya'lls wont do that now???Hell mine does that bone stock. ....Ooops Sorry I was watching a bunch of ricer vids and it wore off on me..LMAO... Yes it is a choice, but I will stick with the X-cal so if I do change something I can change the tune to match. And I still go back to the plug, play and remove. No tuner in the truck no reason for a Dealership to think there was unless they have to go into the computer. Most if not all tuners leave a "footprint" on the new CAN systems. The average joe blow shop cannot tell if there is a tuner on there when they call the warranty company, but if the warranty company sends out an adjuster and they see the edge screen mounted on the dash, they are not stupid they know what it is.

If they put a diesel in the F-150's...I'll have to introduce you guys to the dark side. lol Nothing better than a 7600 pound F-350 going sideways down the road. With the stock tires I could brake them loose at 35 mph, absolutely dangerous in the rain. You have to back the old Xcal2 down a few notch's when the roads get slick.
