The Sony system sounds fairly respectable in my 2010 Platinum, but a sub would help.

 

BTW, here is a pic I took of the F-150 stock speakers (after i ripped them out for Polk db571s) ... not rusty like the original pic I posted, but not exactly impressive either. I still think that you'd have to get awfully cheap aftermarket speakers to do worse than this:
