Default Remote start

Looking to buy a remote start kit. Does anybody have any good recommendations? I’ve seen some on eBay and also looked into 12v solutions. 12v looks very solid but are a few dollars more. Thank you!

I've seen some you tube videos that are "plug and play" but the thing is these modules all need you to already have the factory wireless key fob and unfortunately my xl is bare bones and is manual locks with a plain key. I'd be interested in hearing about ones that work for us people that have bare bones trucks.

Default Remote start

Hey, thanks for the reply. I ended up buying one on eBay. It took 3 minutes to install and works great.

I think you have to get a setup with another fob.

I am researching remote start. What year is your truck? Did it come with a key with the start up button on it? Did you have to do any programming? You installed yourself?

I have a 2018 STX. It cost a $139 on eBay. I can use my key by pressing the unlock button 3 times. It’s an easy plug and play. I intstalled it my self and it took all of 3 minutes to install. It doesn’t need any programming. I did use FORscan to get rid of the double honk.

Default Remote start

When I was looking at a model that did not have remote start already, my dealer said they could add it. The thing is, I would have had to use a different fob to start the truck. Decided to buy a truck with it installed.

That is why i wanted to know the year, I have a 2017 and the dealership originally told me i could add this starter to my vehicle which would allow me to use my original key fob and press a combination of lock and unlock several times, but i later found out this starter was not available for the 2017 model year, only 2018's and newer.

I would look into that. I’m not an expert; but, the one I bought was for 15-18. Check it out on eBay. There is a few different sellers.
