Default Programmer help

There's someone that's selling a sctx4 programmer locally. I'm new to using a programmer so I was wondering what I need to check and look at before I buy it.

And am I understanding correctly that as long as it's unmarried from the current vehicle it doesn't matter what it came off of?

Lastly is the x4 the best for the new f150s or should I be looking for something else?
Thanks for any help!!

Correct as long as the device is not married to a vehicle you should be ok. Just make sure of the programs working correctly when plugging into the OBDII upon start up. While I wouldnt suggest buying a tuner from someone because of the possibility of it still being married to another truck and you dont get the warranty, I can say SCT customer service is top notch if you have any issues.
Hope this helps! Best of luck!
