Will probably purchase ProClip today. Trying to figure out if I can turn the phone in landscape position TO THE LEFT, as opposed to the right. The idea is that the camera lens will be higher and will have horizontal "dash cam" ability. I don't think I'll be able to do that unless make my own extension plate, and that would push it too far to the right in portrait position.

I wish I could go somewhere and compare the Proclip and the Kuda holders to see what fits/works best, but these items aren't stocked anywhere. It seems the Kuda holder allows the phone to sit a little lower so rotating to the left may be an option, but I really can't tell. Plus the Kuda is a little less expensive.

EDIT 12/2/14:
I purchased the holder, the 1" extension plate, and the 10 degree wedge.
I'm getting the extension so I can rotate the phone into landscape (if only in one direction) and the wedge as insurance so I can angle phone down more if needed. I thought of just getting the holder and getting the additional parts if needed or making a custom extension plate...but with the 20% off I figured "just do it". I can always make a custom extension if needed later.

I'll pic/post so anybody can see how it fits...since it looks a bit tight. But there's a back order on one of the 3 parts, not sure when I'll get them. And depending how I install, I may need to get additional screws.

Got the ProClip items I mention earlier in this thread (phone holder, extension plate, wedge)

A few notes for anyone that may be considering this set up:
-The holder is the highest quality, not weak-plasticy-junky. It's much bigger than the small cradle style, so when the phone is not installed...it doesn't disappear like the small cradle. Dominates the dash.
-The phone holder will fit a Ballistic Urbanite case no problem.
-The holder can be rotated into landscape just barely, the cable is a tight squeeze and reduces the overall positioning. Acceptable, but not optimum. May need the 1" extension plate to move the phone away from the dashpod for more adjustment. (I have not used the extension plate or wedge yet, I'm experimenting).
-Lightning cable: If you don't use the ProClip holder with supplied cable, it's a 99% chance you need to use the Apple cable because the Lightning cable head fit is EXACT. Any other cable used needs to be the EXACT size or there will be problems. I would have bought the black USB cable (not hard-wired) from ProClip if I was more aware of this ($30 less 20% discount=$26 totally worth it) because I don't want the white cable look.

I gotta monkey around with the set up (parts for positioning, cable color), but I'm sure it will be acceptable once I'm done.

EDIT: The Apple Lightning cable plastic housing at the Lightning end is 4.6mm(+) x 7.6mm(+) x 12mm I used calipers to confirm printed documentation. If I ever come across a black cable that fits into the ProCLip the way it should, I'll post it here. But I'm not out buying tons of cables, just a couple email to a couple suppliers and that's it. I really shoulda gotten the ProClip cable.

Yet another update:

Apple Lightning cable dimensions 12mm x 7.75mm x 4.7mm $19-3 ft white only

Monoprice Ultra-Slim cable dimensions 12mm x 7.75mm x 5mm $9-3ft, $10-6ft white or black

The Monoprice cable seems much nicer than the Apple, it's also available in white or black, and 3' or 6' so you can wire to the fuse box easily. I found I don't like to hook it up to USB2 in SYNC because it is too restrictive when I have GPS, music, etc. When it's plugged into SYNC I don't hear text messages, etc. And you still need bluetooth on to talk via the truck hands free.

The Monoprice Ultra-Slim cable can fit in the Proclip, it is only .3mm thicker. So far mine has gone in halfway and the resistance becomes too much. I strongly believe with a slight shave/sanding with high grit paper will thin it to fit. Or scrape with a utility knife.

Since I wanted to see if it would work right now, I used a utility knife to scrape the size from 5mm to about 4.75-4.8mm and it squeezed in and "clicked" and there is no play. It may be a little tougher to remove in event of a cable emergency, but this is perfect...

- It's better quality
- black color blends with car better than white
- $10 less than Apple and $20 less than Proclip
- You can pull it out and use it separately if you need to
- has the famous Monoprice lifetime warranty
