Hello I reallllllly want to dump my exhaust after it get my borla muffler! I live in illinois and have to do emmission and inspection! If I dump it past the cab be before the axel will I pass? I REALLY NEED TO KNOW PLEASE HELP ME OUT! What are the illinois exhaust laws!? Is dumped illeagal in any states?

The best thing you can do is to go to an inspection station and ask them. I know in Texas, as long as you go past the cab, you are fine. Generally, it reads as long as you go past the passenger compartment, it is legal, but I can't speak for Illinois.

Agreed on texas law! But for example, in virginia, the tailpipe must be visible on the outside of a vehicle.
Check with an inspector,.. Just a thought, dump it, but keep enough pipe and a clamp to put on just for inspections.

I live in by joliet but in a little rual and still have inspection... I can find anything on it can any of you?

What about side exit is that legal?

I couldn't find sh:t on the net but I think a local muffler shop could easily answer your questions. Sorry wasn't much help.

Haha thanks for looking! I did call 2 shops and they said its legal ! One mechanic said I can run pipes from my headers out the side after the front tires as long as I have a muffler that would be way to loud but I expected illinois laws to be very strict with exhaust.... Anyways THANKYOU!
