(Photo Heavy) 2013 F150 FX4 Front Emblem Camera Install

Front camera video display roll
Trying this again after the forum threw away my last response because my session cookie was expired. Grrr.
I did my install today. It is up and working with one minor scare when the camera didn't work at first. Turns out the plug under the hood just wasn't in far enough. Whew.
A number of observations:
1) There is far too much wire. I took off the loom from the extra stuff so that I could shrink the mass down and hide it behind the console.
2) When using the original rear camera mode it seems to take longer to return to the MFT screens.
3) I used the grommet through the firewall which required cutting the nub on the engine side. That was a PITA.
4) My grille seems to be different than what the instructions was expecting. a) I didn't need to drill out the screw mounting locations as there was already an opening there. I used the metal clip as a nut but didn't insert it in the plastic. b) The instructions for removing the ford emblem didn't seem to match up. Took me a while to figure out what was holding it in.
5) I had it roll the display like an old TV used to do! I had the front camera on when pulling in to my driveway. I put the truck in reverse to better align with my driveway edge which engaged the rear camera and then when I drove forward I got a rolling display of both the front and back cameras. It rolled once or twice before settling down.
6) I spent way too much time trying to find lost bits and screws. I still can't find my 1/4" - hex socket adapter. No idea where it is.
Overall, I like it and believe it will serve the purpose.

I think it has something to do with Lockpick itself, mine does it once a while too, its weird but it goes away anyways, I dont really expect too much perfection when it comes to electronic mods on cars, I'm just happy things work, lol
