Hi Heath, I'm picking up a leftover 17 stx on Friday. I had an undercover truck bed cover on my last truck. My question is, is the locked cover as secure or sturdy as the undercover? Not that it was all that sturdy. (Lol)

I like the fact that you can roll yours up pretty easy. Is it water tight?

Hi Mark -

Thank you for considering a Peragon tonneau cover! I don't have any hands-on experience with the Undercover, so can't give you a direct comparison. What I can tell you is our key lock and deadbolt system is quite robust. If you want an extra level of security for peace of mind, we offer our Dual Deadbolt option. It still uses a single key lock for convenience, but adds a second deadbolt to the passenger side of the cover. A determined thief could get in, but they'd make some noise and spend some time trying.

Our solid aluminum panels strike a balance between strength for security and weight for ease of removal. Our cover isn't designed to walk on, but for protecting and securing your cargo it provides all the strength you'll need. Plus it is light enough for our Quick Release feature to be convenient.

We are careful to make sure our customers know up front that our cover is not watertight/proof. You will see some drips get in along the edges and in the corners of the bed. The amount of water that gets in is a matter of time. Our customers are typically very happy with the overall level of weather protection combined with the cargo-hauling flexibility of our retractable design. If you're hauling sensitive cargo like tools or electronics, we recommend using Rubbermaid-style totes to keep everything organized, clean and perfectly dry.
