We did clean and repaint a set on a friends truck but it didn't last. The design is just poor.

no problem. i should add that they were showing flaking/rust back when i bought the truck, and it got worse fast.

I wanted to share my experience with Westin for anyone that wants a comparison. I had my protraxx 5 steps for 2.5 yrs warranty is good for 3yrs. I started seeing major rust and bubbles on the driver side. I attempted to use the online options to contact Westin with zero response and was expecting I won't get much response with them. Finally got around to calling them about 2 months ago. The rep asked for all of the pictures and purchase order details which I provided. After 2 weeks did not hear back so I emailed him for status and a few days later he sent me a reply to call him back that they would cover it under warranty. I had to play phone tag a few times before finally getting him back on the phone but he took all of my shipping information and opened an order for the replacements and also paid 57.50 for shipping. I had to follow up again as I had not received a tracking number and was told they were on back order until mid August. Well I finally got my replacements yesterday and they did send me a full new set. I would have to say although a bit of pain to keep following up at least Westin unlike the OPs NFAB issues they came thru and I am very pleased.

defects has bubbles

peeling and rusting

Brand new protraxx 5 in box

confirmed new steps not refurbished

I am in Florida, have installed these for over a year, have had ZERO problems. Clearly this is an up-north, salted road problem. Sorry to hear you are going through this.
