Default keyless entry Installation

So I have my 2007 F150 STX and it has manual windows and locks. I've read reviews on power window installation and not only does it seem like a delicate process but the reviews for aftermarket kits were terrible. I am interested in installing power locks but I can't seem to find any solid advice. Does anyone have any recommendations? Is it worth the time and money to invest in a keyless entry system?

Why not just look for some parts at a local junk yard? My local junk yard sucks but I'm always hearing people talk about finding parts at theirs lol. I'm sure you could get doors or just the hardware/wiring out of a wrecked truck and it will work seeing as these trucks are known to have the same wiring just not always having the features hooked up, for instance my 2x4 has the 4x4 plug behind the stupid coin holder on the dash....

I installed a Black Widow PDL KIT2 remote lock kit (lock/alarm) on a 2005 Colorado but only used the door lock function. For background, the truck had manual windows/locks, and has no key access on the pax side. So you had to get in the truck from driver side and reach over to unlock pax door.... every time.
355Nation (the Colorado forum) was super helpful as they've done everything on that truck and it's all well documented. Going to power windows was more than I wanted to deal with (but they've done it and you can learn about it there).
The door locks were easy enough and that was all I used from the Black Widow package (getting a unit that fit the truck, with key fobs, was mostly what I was looking for). I had one question (power wire) emailed BW tech support, and got a quick reply. After taking off the door panels, the servos mounted in the door easily enough. The push/pulls are attached to the door lock cable or rod. Wires run through existing holes to the receiver unit mounted under the dash. The whole thing only took a couple hours taking my time. But then again, it was super helpful that someone had done it before me and documented it. So if you do this, please take the time to take photos along the way (painful as it may be to remember to take pics, it will help the next guy). Would be happy to answer questions if I can.

Installing electric door locks on a truck that didn't have it was hands-down the best mod I've ever done. It was a real PITA, especially with that particular truck, since it had no method to unlock the PAX door from the outside. Once you get e-locks installed you'll wonder how you ever got along without them. Manual windows were also a pain, but I could live with it. Installing the servos did require drilling 2 small screw mount holes in each door. It could be that your doors are drilled for servos but if they don't line up where you need them it's no big deal to drill a couple. The holes are then covered by the door interior panels. If you get a parts diagram you might be able to see where window motors are installed and that your doors are drilled for those as well.... maybe. I replaced a window motor in a Ranger and it went very easily, but then everything was in place for it. To retrofit, I've seen photos on the Colorado forum where they did it by installing aftermarket switches in custom locations in the truck and also by using factory door panels to have that 'factory' look. Either way, it's not a monumental task. Just do the research, decide which way you want to go, research some more, get your lock and window kits, and go for it.
